GrumpyElf
Ok, we've all been playing a bit now. What are some of your favorite Achievments you've earned. I thought saving Helena from the Water Boss on Kameo was well earned. Staying alive on Geometry Wars for 60 seconds without firing a shot, that was harder then I thought it'd be. I have to say, whoever at Microsoft that came up with all the Achievment ideas, well, brilliant! It's like online competition, while playing single player. I see someone on my friend list got one I don't have, oh, well, that won't do! Have to match it! It's so thrilling to see that "Achievment X" appear on your screen... it's just really well done. ColdForged
Agreed, I think the concept is great. Some are of dubious merit, like the Gotham TV Sports Freak in PGR3 or whatever it's called, rewarded for watching 10 races online and saving a replay. That's not an achievement worthy of spit in my opinion, but I guess it's a way for developers to get you to explore regions you might otherwise not. And yeah, the Pacifism achievement was harder than expected. I can't imagine getting 1,000,000 points in Geometry Wars, but then I couldn't have imagined getting 200,000 either before I did it. That said, I don't expect I'll ever get a black pearl in Hexic. That's just crazy talk.
Romier S
I have to say, whoever at Microsoft that came up with all the Achievment ideas, well, brilliant! Agreed. It's my absolute favorite new addition to Live and the 360. I'm proud of finishing both Condemned and Call of Duty 2. I'm proud of finding a good bit of the hidden 360's in Condemned also, though I have a few to go. I'm also proud of my play time with Kameo and beating Smash TV tonight for the 100th time in my gaming life.:tu
Calvin
I totally agree about both doing the achievements & specifially the Pacifism on Geometry Wars. Being able to not only see what your friends have done, not to mention compete with them on the Arcade games,is nothing short of incredible. Not to mention addicting:D
Dan B.
I love the Geometry Wars Pacifism achievement because it makes you play the game in a different way; a way that I am apparently not very good at though. There are discrepancies though in the amount of points awarded vs. the difficulty of achievement in some games. For example, it's pretty easy to get 100 points in Kameo for simple tasks, but only 10 points for the Geo Wars Pacifism thing, which is not as easy. Graeme
Since I don't have a 360 yet, I'd have to say beating Tyson. I agree that the Achievments seems like a really cool idea though.
JoeyN
I agree achievemants are a excellent addition. However the ones for sports games are way too easy to achieve for 100 points each
The Daisy
Getting my black pearl is my greatest achievement to this point. That 60 seconds of pacifism is just going to be nucking futs. I'm going to have to have a watch next to me to see how I close I'm actually getting. The scale of the points does seem completely out of whack though. I wish they would have made the difficult tasks worth a great deal more than the "start a new game" type. Glen
Dave C
LOL, just getting my 360 is my greatest acheivment. Yes, acheivments definitely add to the fun making it easier to compare how far along your friends are in the game. Personally, I'm amazed at some of your gamerscores and achievements thus far. Some of you guys are obviously very skilled and are spending a lot of time with your new ?...preciousssssss. I wish I had more time to game. I need to get fired, have my kids grow faster and get a divorce.
kelley
I wish I had more time to game. I need to get fired, have my kids grow faster and get a divorce. Shit Joel can have that done in a weekend, you can too!
stillfastasleep
I'm very proud of having completed training in COD2 and being awarded 50 brownie points. I'm glad all my time on halo and halo 2 honing my fps skills did not go to waste.
The Daisy
Pacifism done on Geometry Wars. Just to let you know... it doesn't tell you when you complete it. How annoying is that? I had my laptop clock next to me to see how long I had avoided guys. Looked at the laptop and saw that 1 minute and 6 seconds had gone by. It didn't tell me that I had done it until the game was over. BTW, after a certain point... you can't run any longer... they become faster than you. Edit: Got Survived 100k and score over 100k. I'm done with this game for the night. Glen
fishepa
Actually I think it makes a little "ding" sound when the 60 seconds is up. I did it earlier.
Angel P
I'm very proud of having completed training in COD2 and being awarded 50 brownie points. I'm glad all my time on halo and halo 2 honing my fps skills did not go to waste. So let me get this straight: We get 50 points for completing the training mode in COD2 but nothing for winning the war? I see some of you have finished the single player mode but still only have the "fitty" for training. There must be stuff to accomplish within the war. Romier S
We get 50 points for completing the training mode in COD2 but nothing for winning the war? You do get points for Winning the War. Check my achievements below Angel (you get 150 points for winning the war). The rest of the achievements for Call of Duty 2 require you to finish each of the campaigns in the game at the Veteran difficulty, and finally to win the war on either Hardened or Verteran. Angel P
Ok, that makes sense. I thought I had checked yours and Wetwork's and only saw the 50 points. Thanks for the clarification. :tu
GrumpyElf
This is as basic as they come, but I whipped up a quick page to see some of my friends progress... I'll be adding all of you on my friends list later today... check the source code, it's nice and simple. Makes a good homepage for me in the morning, so I know if I'm falling behind. merlot
Chalk another up for the Pacifism, along with staying alive till 100,000 (though thats getting easier now). Others I'm proud of our all golds in PGR3 (and I'll eventually have all platinums & time trials completed). Winning the war on COD2 and finishing the Russian campaign on Veteran. The Daisy
Beating King Kong....that was a hard 1000 points. Not as tough as the 100 for starting a fire in the beginning. Hopefully I'll have these 1000 points by the end of the weekend. Glen
