iainl
I've just gone for a look at how the main site is coming along, and the answer seems to be 'very nicely indeed'. Good work so far, guys. Do you have a rough date for going 'live' with it? Is it basically 'live' anyway, given that it's viewable to the general public? Also, even if not yet, could you make the banner at the top of the forum point to the main site rather than back here? It's something the guys over at thetriforce.com do (I assume it's a mod to the forum engine) that really helps navigate between the two. kelley
Thanks for the kind words. We hope you guys enjoy the site.
Romier S
Do you have a rough date for going 'live' with it? Hopefully by the end of the week if all goes well. I'm working with some folks on content right now that we want to put up for the launch so I'm busting my ass trying to get all of that done by the weekend. iainl
That soon? Cool!
Romier S
Make sure you guys take a look at the front page and surf around the reviews etc. Let us know if you notice anything funky in terms of visuals or how things work. You'll notice a bunch of reviews, and content being uploaded over the next couple of days so make sure to keep an eye out. Some of the items uploaded are not entirely done so if you see some incomplete reviews missing tech specs and more, we are aware of it. Thanks! EnemaEms
Everything is looking damn good...I still can't believe there is actual content there. BTW, I love the shot from Madden you used for the review. -Dean-

Dave C
Looking good guys. What does going live actually mean? How do you plan on officially launching the site? Search engines? Link exchanges? How large of an audience are you looking to grab? How do you plan on making LCVG stand out amoungst all other gaming sites/forums? Is there going to be a niche/slogan so to speak of the site (i.e.: "Mature talk for mature gamers".) Just curious, but also concerned about what direction the site/forums will go once it really goes public.
Romier S
Looking good guys. What does going live actually mean? Nothing much to be quite honest. It's mostly our own barometer for when we consider the main site content full and ready to start putting the name out there more than anything else. You could technically consider the site "Live" as it is as it's pretty much up and content is already up there. ow large of an audience are you looking to grab? No target really. We've never been much about numbers as far as the forum is concerned. Community and maintaining a good atmosphere is what we're concentrating on, and it's the same focus with the website. We want to provide good reviews, good content, and good gaming discussion. How do you plan on making LCVG stand out amoungst all other gaming sites/forums? Well, I like to think we stand out forum wise as being a place you can come and talk games without having to worry about the usual crap you read around the internet. I love the community we have here, and I want to expand it even more. I /DO NOT/ believe that a large community is unmanageable. I think it can be done, and done well. We've learned alot about managing this place in the past 2+ years, and we've got a great group here. We want more folks to be a part of that. In terms of the website, we want to get more indepth when it comes to our reviews. We want to be able to provide a reliable place to see what features a game supports (widescreen, resolutions, leaderboards, how many online players etc.). How many times do you see folks asking the same questions around the internet? (is it widescreen? does it support coop? etc.) We want to provide folks with real information on how a game performs online, and whether the game should interest them. One thing that we are doing to differentiate ourselves is that our reviews will not carry a score. We will provide pluses and minuses, along with the text review but you will not see a numerical score associated with a review. We also want to give folks the ability to read well-written blog-style articles on every aspect of the industry. Not from the perspective of so called "industry professionals", but from the gamers themselves. I want folks to feel comfortable contributing to LCVG, and anyone interested in writing for us is more than welcome to contact me. We want the forum and the site to linked as one. One half of a whole. We're starting off small, much like we have with the forum, and we won't be able to compete with the timeliness of the bigger sites out there at first, but we hope you guys enjoy reading our stuff nonetheless. Just curious, but also concerned about what direction the site/forums will go once it really goes public. The direction is the same Wetwork. We want to grow, but we want to maintain what we've established over the past two years.:tu
Dave C
Sounds great!!! I'm at ease now.
kelley
Romier pretty much summed it all up, but I wanted to add one thing: If we feel the quality of community is starting to fail because of growth, we will not be afraid to put the brakes on growth in order to save the community. Take a look at Penny-Arcade and look at how they have grown and their quality has continued to rise and their community has only gotten better. We hope to follow in those footsteps. JTello
I like it! Very impressive! I see the design is done by Cancerbox. Is Scott an LCVG member, or is his work commissioned for the site? Good stuff, here and otherwise. It'll be interesting to see how LCVG, main & forums, progress and evolve as we move forward. Romier S
Is Scott an LCVG member, or is his work commissioned for the site? Yep, he sure is a member here. Forum name is cancerbox as well. He's a good friend of Kelley's. Kelley, Scott, and Adam (Tyner) deserve major kudos for all of the work they did with the site. Kelley basically coordinated everything for us, Scott took care of the design elements with Kelley's help, and Adam did a stellar job with the backend of the site. Good job guys, and thank you. kelley
The biggest thank you to Scott for taking time out of his very very very busy schedule for getting the site design done. Adam, can't say enough about Adam and his putting up with us. We started working, then stopped because of some reason, started again, stopped again, started, stopped, started.....finally finished. Again Adam we are in your debt....you too scott!
JTello
Yep, he sure is a member here. Forum name is cancerbox as well. :bh Why didn't I think to check for that user name! Well, great work all! Having a quailty site goes a long way toward helping communicate the quality of the community. :tu
MastaRedSnappa
Once the main site goes live officially, will the forums still require registration to read them?
Romier S
The forums are already open Masta. We opened them to provide RSS feeds, and not so much because of the main site. We're still monitoring new membership and growth however in the forum software.
