Bruce B
I realize this database would be immense but was wondering if there is a database kept online to view all gamertags so that if someone wanted to create one they could see if it was already taken before trying to get set up on live. Carlucci
Bruce, you could try to do what I did: (assuming you already have one LIVE account, which you do) Try adding the gamertag you desire as a friend. if it lets you, then you can be certain the Gamertag is unavailable. You can always cancel the friend request before the real owner sees it. If you get a message saying gamertag not found, then I would think that you should be able to add it. When trying to set up my son's account, I did this because he wanted MattMan. We tried a lot of variations and they were all taken, so we wound up having to settle for MattMan2093. We figured everyone will just call him MattMan and ignore the numbers, and that's excactly what is happening. Carlos.

Carlucci
It's still a hassle, and a database would be much better. But at least you can do some legwork before actually sitting in front of the screen getting reject after reject. If you wanted to try somewhere online, where you can use the keyboard, it's a pretty reasonable assumption that most LIVE gamers got Halo 2, so you could go to Bungie's site and try to search for the stats of some gamertags. That may help too. Carlos.
