JoeyN
Patrick Stewart said plans are afoot for a new TNG film in a few years. I read recently that Bryan Singer has been intrested in doing a trek film. We can only hope the next one is good
marsrunner
A few things they need to do... 1. Keep Berman and Braga away...far, far away. They did some good things with Trek in the past, but its time to let someone else take a stab at it. 2. Leave Data out of it. I know he was one of the main characters, but a) what else can they do with the character, Brent Spiner is getting too old for an android that never ages and c) every Trek movie with him in it is always about Data. Picard's the captain so he should be one of the main focal points of the story, but its time to let someone else take a major part, or hopefully just keep it ensemble. 3. Don't make a new villain...use the Klingons or Andorians or heck the Dominion. The movie original villains don't work out too well. 4. The DS9 fan in me (its my favorite show ever) would love for some kind of crossover story involving Sisko coming back. I'd love it but I know it would never happen and part of me would be scared if they did. I'd love for them to make a good Star Trek movie, but I don't want them to do it if they can't do it right. JoeyN
mars a few things 1-Braga has said he is done with trek for good, but berman isnt going anywhere 2-I totally agree, but i also think some of the other charectors should be more involved 3-Yeah enough with the new villians. There are so many races like the Tholians and the Gorn out there which we havent seen much of, it would be nice to use one of them for a change 4-You know Im a huge DS9 fan, but we have a better change of hitting every lottery jackpot for the next 20 years. JoeyN
Big News in Variety today. It seems Paramount must like the work done by JJ Abrahms on MI:3 as they have hired him to be in charge of everything for a new Trek Movie due out in
iainl
4. The DS9 fan in me (its my favorite show ever) would love for some kind of crossover story involving Sisko coming back. I don't. There's no chance whatsoever of doing it properly and having him a major character who actually does plot-related things, and anything less is just yet more tedious fanwank, the likes of which already killed the pacing of the last few. Jordan_E
I thought it was a prequel with the meeting of Kirk and Spock at Starfleet Academy... If not, I could care less, because the only ST I like are the original cast movies. "KKKHHHHAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNN!"
Rainmaykr
Aren't we past due for a good ST movie? Nemesis would be forgiven if they could pump out another Undiscovered Country... but that goes without saying. We ST fans are largely forgiving... Tino
HUGE Star Trek fan. Loved Nemesis. Sorry.
JoeyN
Nemisis had its moments. The ship battles were very well done, and I like the story idea. However the way they executed it was way off. The director knew nothing of trek (all the actors have said so) at all and it showed in many regards. Starhawk
I agree with Joey about Nemesis. I loooved First Contact and really liked both Generations and Insurrection. Im all about TNG, and am not really a fan of original Trek at all.
JoeyN
FC is excellent, Generations was a good first attempt, and for some reason I dug Insurrection for how its story connected to the Dominion War in a way. Also it eventually connected to the DS9 after series story in the books
Rainmaykr
HUGE[/b'] Star Trek fan. Loved Nemesis. Sorry. Nemesis was done better by the original crew. Kaaaaaahn! This coming from a TNG>OG>All others-type dude.
Romier S
I don't dislike Nemesis either. It does have its moments and I do think there's alot to like about the film (the action is nice, seeing the crew move on with Riker and Troi getting married etc.). It's the small continuity problems I disliked though. The entire jeep sequence was nonsense and Data not even mentioning Lore when they found B4 didn't ring true for me. I won't go into the enormous copout ending which completely nullified any semblance of sacrifice Data made.
JoeyN
I still like the alternate Nemisis ending on the dvd more then the actual theatrical ending
kelley
Give the casual fan what they want, TNG crew vs. the Borg for real...all out war. When we saw First Contact the theater was buzzed at the beginning, then they went back in time and the theater died down. I think Jonathan Frakes does a good job with Trek, its just he gets really weak scripts.
marsrunner
Well, if they are doing what the stories are reporting (Kirk and Spock's first meeting in the Academy) I couldn't possibly be more disinterested. Who wants to see this, really?
Blind Squirrel
Meh. I used to be a huge Next-gen fan when it was still running, but then I grew up and most of it seems childish to me now. Some of the show's better moments still stand up well, but most of it seems a little too silly and just generally poorly written to me now. I find that the movies based off of the original series appeal more to me now; the sense of adventure they had in them is just too lacking in TNG in general. I still haven't seen Nemisis, and don't have much desire to either. I don't see them doing much with the new movie either that will interest me. Most of the best ideas to come out of TNG have been botched by now (Having a Borg queen was a terrible idea, and then Voyager screwed them up even more). GreenMonkey
I loved TNG when I was young. Having just watched S1 of TNG recently, I find that I still enjoy it. IMO Trek has been low-quality dreck since those B&B dudes took over the show. I stopped watching Voyager after S1 because I thought it was a suckfest. Later bits of it I saw still sucked. And unfortunately the TNG movies were all mediocre - Nemesis was OK but the lame press-the-reset-button copout with Data kinda defanged it. You Trekkies are lucky though. You get a movie helmed by some folks that know what they are doing, now. Us B5-ers get our movie cancelled before it even really got going I need to watch the recent of DS9 at some point. I lost track of it around '95 or so.
JoeyN
People forget B&B were around during TNG and wrote some of the good episodes which is very scary. But they almost ruined trek earlier then voyager. Ill try to find a intresting interview i read last year from Ron Moore i believe. He talked about how DS9 would have been much different if B&B had there way. It was the core group of writers over at DS9 that stayed the course and would not give in. Us B5-ers get our movie cancelled before it even really got going No no. We get TV series cancelled before they even air , and get a pilot movie for a new show, put up against one of the greatest playoff football games of all time As for the movie, the untimely death of Richard Biggs postponed JMS's script plans and then it fell apart from there. And now with Andreas gone, who knows if there will ever be anything B5 again.

Look at George Lucas and Star Wars , look at what happened when he wrote everything himself
Blind Squirrel
Some people need adversity in order to produce good stuff. They need people pushing back on them, making them go back to rewrite stuff, change things, refine things, making them think a little more deeply about what they're doing. Lucas spent a lot longer thinking about Episodes 4-6 than he did with Episodes 1-3 (despite having 30 years to do so), and it shows.
