splunk
I think I've decided to sell off my Xbox 360 premium bundle. I've played the machine for probably seven hours and don't see myself using it much right now. I may pick one up later next year. Xbox 360 Premium Bundle in original (well cared for) packaging including all accessories that came with the bundle. Second Wireless Microsoft controller (unopened) Two Play & Charge kits (rechargeable battery & usb charger cable)(one unopened) Project Gotham Racing 3 in mint condition 3200 points for use with Xbox Live Arcade and premium downloads I'm looking for $850 plus shipping. EnemaEms
I didn't wanna say anything....but $850 sure does seem like a lot for a bundle that adds up to about $600. Might wanna try Ebay instead of trying to hose an LCVG member. -Dean-
Carlucci
c'mon Dean, he's not really hosing anyone. Whether you know it or not (and I know that you do), EVERYONE is paying market price for their 360. Even if you only paid $400 for a premium, you are still sittiing on much more $$$ value, because the market *Is* paying more right now. In Splunk's case, the opportunity cost of additional money lost by keeping the system is much more than the actual $600 paid. It just so happens that nearly all LCVG'ers place much more value on the system than the market value is worth. If you didn't place the additional value on it, the opportunity cost would overcome, as it has for Splunk, and you would deal it. I don't begrudge you your decision to sell at a premium Splunk. It's basic econonomics and smart. Smells like Capitalism. And that never stinks. Carlos.
JoeyN
EVERYONE is paying market price for their 360. Actually you mean AFTER marketprice. Not everyone is paying after market prices to get a 360. Phil, Joel, Lupo and a bunch of others have bought 360's the past weeks from a variety of places for retail cost. A few of them ordered extras as well to help out other lcvg members who couldnt find them
Carlucci
Nope, read the next sentence again Joey. The market price is what it is, regardless of whether you paid the MRSP or not. Every single one of you who only paid "retail" for the 360 is sitting on much more money than that right now. You know full well that you could box up your system, put it on Ebay, and easily get the $850 or more that Splunk is trying for. The opportunity cost of keeping the $600 system is $850. But, you don't mind because you get the extra utility since you are a hardcore gamer. Others, like me and Splunk, would see the $850 hanging in front of us, and the opportunity cost of keeping would not be offset by the intrinsic value of keeping the system. Carlos. JoeyN
If you are selling a system for more money then you paid for it at retail, that is a After market price. Yes the system is worth more money in the after market. In some cases like JC Pennys viasco it was even in the regular market
PoisonJam
I think the question is not if the system is worth that price, which I think we can all agree it is based on what people are paying for it, but whether it's right to try to make a buck on it here at LCVG rather than on Ebay. Especially when people like Scott, Joel, and Phil have offered the extra systems they scored to fellow forummates at cost. I'm sure opinions will vary wildly as they always do when it comes to money, but I see Dean's point.
EnemaEms
I have no problem with people making extra money off of 360's on Ebay and such, but to try and do it here....that is another thing. Oh...Thanks again Phil for scoring me a 360 and not charging me an additional two-fitty for it. -Dean-

JTello
Ohhhh, such an interesting dilemma. I happen to fall on the side of agreeing splunk should be able to ask whatever price he likes and let the price work itself out. The name of the discussion area isn't "For Sale/Trade at cost only." I've seen a number of lisitings here drop down in price after no one bought the original asking price. The market worked itself out. Because those items didn't sell for the original asking price, does that make the seller was a bad person? I love the fact that there are LCVG members here willing to help each other out and sell systems at cost. I would do the same. I can see the grey area for the debate, but considering this is a free and open forum, I just don't see anything wrong with listing here for what ever price one sees fit. splunk
Yes guys, you will notice I didn't state that the price was firm. As for other people selling the extra machines that they picked up, at cost, they were extra machines and not their only one. Of course you don't have to pick up the item for sale, that's your prerogative. Did you guys notice the second term listed in the rules of this section? "Do not post complaints or negative remarks about prices. Contact the other party via email if you have an issue with the price." It's too late now, just wanted to point it out for future reference. Ricky G
'Tis America boys. Let him ask what he wants. Splunk, you are better off taking your offer over to eBay though, since this is more of a community of gamers. You'll have more of a chance to hose an upper/middle class soccer mom for the bundle over there.
Romier S
Ok folks, it's time to move along as they say. As Splunk mentioned, we have rules that are meant to prohibit complaints of prices for items with instructions how to lodge such complaints to the seller. The moderation staff has actually been watching this thread because this is a bit of a grey area as far as what's being offered and the price that's being asked. Nonetheless, I'm going to close this thread out and ask Splunk to repost his listing (Splunk check your PM). If you are interested in his offer, feel free to contact him. If not, then ignore the post and I've no doubt the system will be offered up on Ebay or some other venue. If there is an issue with the pricing of the system, please follow the rules as listed and email/PM the seller in question keeping it private and off the forums. Thanks guys. dogbert
Just wanted to reiterate a point about the rules for this area: Do not post complaints or negative remarks about prices.
