Carlucci
In 1998 I had just a curious interest in the World Cup. In 2002, I stayed up all night and watched every USA match and caught a great deal of the others on Tivo. I learned a whole lot, but really didn't pay attention to the events leading up to the World Cup. Now here we are in 2006, the World Cup is coming, and I want to experience it ALL. I payed attention to some of the qualifying and the Draw, and from what I've gathered the USA is in a tough group. Still, to be ranked in the top 10 is quite an achievement for the U.S., and I'm very hopeful that we'll do as well or better than in 2002. Ousting Mexico was awesome! I'd be very grateful if the soccer-fan veterans out there would post here with insight, analysis, and info on the upcoming friendlies in preparation for the World Cup , and to answer my dumb questions as they come up. I've looked at quite a bit on http://www.ussoccer.com, and would appreciate referrals to other web sites as well. So who is your favorite team? Your pick to take it all? Carlos. exile
I don't follow Soccer but picking Brazil or Argentina is probably a safe bet FWIW, All of the games will be in HD this year. I saw that post at AVS.
kelley
Yeah many European sat/cable companies and TV companies are placing huge bets on the World Cup to drive HD sales.
Whooter
In 1994 I got to attend the Romania/Sweden quarterfinal(?) game at Stanford Stadium. It was an awesome experience, and I've followed at least the World Cup every 4 years since. Germany or Brazil will be the ones to beat... PHiL
Im a huge soccer fan, probably the only one that still watches MLS soccer... Its a great sport to watching, especially come world cup time... USA ALL THE WAY.. But some times we just have to be realistic.. Argentina will win it all.
