Angry the Clown
I’m on day fifteen of suffering from the most hideous bout of flu that I have had in years. It all started when I was in Scotland for Christmas and New Year where toward the end of my visit there I came down with a case of the sniffles which rapidly progressed into a fever. This made the 11hr drive home deeply uncomfortable, but I got back a couple of weeks ago and was able to rest. The symptoms subsided but then I developed a rather nasty cough and now a gland in the left of my throat is terribly swollen making it remarkably painful every time I swallow. It’s all been utterly debilitating leaving me stuck in the house for days on end now (couldn't even find the strength to go out and buy a wireless router last week). Hardly been the most productive start to the new year. I know a few all over the UK suffering from the same thing and over the past few days have spoken with various friends in America and Canada who are under the weather with similar symptoms too. Still, I’ve at least convinced myself I’ve not got bird flu. Anyone else here a virus magnet and suffering from anything at the moment or is it just me? Romier S
I caught this lovely bit of congestion, and coughing from a co-worker who decided to come into work a day after getting over a 104 degree temperature. I'm slowly getting over it, but its just been a pain the past couple of days. It pretty much ruined my weekend since I spent all of Sunday wrapped up in a blanket on the couch not wanting to do a damn thing since I could barely breath. Of course congestion leads right into a throbbing headache for me as well. Double trouble. I hate having a cold..:scream
Bruce B
Do you guys get flu shots? I probably shouldnt say this out loud but i havent had the flu in probably 25 years and havent had a plain old cold in the past 5-6 years. Havent missed a day of work in twelve years here. Angry the Clown
In the UK they tend to reserve flu shots at winter for pensioners, and because our government did two things just before Christmas (hyped bird flu, then casually announced there was a shortage of standard flu vaccinations) many went into a frenzy leaving little to go around. I don't get ill that often. I used to, until I started steadily changing my diet for the better some five years ago now leaving me eating and drinking a lot of the right nutrients that can keep common illness away. Last time I remember having a heavy flu was about six years ago as I remember having to miss my very last day of college due to being so ill. I'm annoyed I could not even get out of the house to buy a wireless router the other day. I'd give a lot to have LCVG on my iBook whilst being able to play Outrun 2 at the same time, and never having to leave the comfort of my bed. JoeyN
I usually get sick once a year. In the last 3 months ive been sick 4 times because people dont know when to stay home when sick
Robot Monkey
I used to get one bad cold a year and that was pretty much it. Since I started using Cold-Eez when I get a cold, I pretty much get one mild cold a year. I think it's the only OTC thing available that was shown by double-blinds to lessen the severity and duration of colds.
Orpheus
I fix band instruments for a living and get several in a week that are still damp inside from just being played. Needless to say anything that is in the schools (which seem to be a haven for virii) spread like wildfire through the shop so I'm usually sick with something nasty in early winter (which I already had, lasted a good 2 weeks too) and then again in late spring. Yay!!
Anthony G
I can not remember the last time I had a cold (it's been years). Probably the layer of tar in my lungs from smoking makes it difficult for the buggers to get in.
The Daisy
My daughter just caught a nasty bug. Had a temp between 102 and 104 all day. Nothing bad on the bloodwork or lung x-rays though, so it's just a bad cold. Man... I never knew how bad a cold could be until it happened to a one year old. Ryan FB
I was really sick with incredible sinus pain for the week before Christmas, and I got nailed with a rather bad flu for the first time about a year ago (I never knew quite how bad body aches could get before that). It really sucks being completely taken out of commission by something like that, hope you get better soon.
Angry the Clown
My throat is a lot better today. I'm not actually wincing in pain every time I swallow although there is still some slight swelling. As such, I'm going to get myself out of the house and see if I can get that router, or at the very least browse what's left of games and CDs in the January sales.
