Konami today announced Silent Hill Experience, a new form of interactive UMD that promises to submerge players in all manners of spookiness. The UMD will include content from all four Silent Hill games and the upcoming feature film. You can expect interviews with the director of the movie, as well as a chat with the composer, and a slew of other DVD-like extras.

There will also be movie stills and game stills, along with a series of trailers. Perhaps the coolest aspect of the release will be a string of exclusive animated comics written by longtime Silent Hill author Scott Ciencin. There should be six in all, with each lasting around 15 minutes. From a recent presentation, these comics, illustrated by Steve Perkins and Alex Shibao, look downright impressive and should please any fan. Basically, they're a mix of 2D and 3D hand drawn art, but they're edited in a way to make them feel very dynamic. They're also partially interactive with animated transitions.

You can also expect music content such as a selection of songs from the Silent Hill videogames. The disk will pack some 20 tracks hand-picked by Akira Yamaoka.

IGN also has a trailer for the game here:

1up.com has a report that mentions Konami may be working on a new Silent Hill for the PSP that is not Silent Hill Experience. They mention a possible remke of the first game as a likely candidate. E3 will more than likely reveal more:

It would appear that Silent Hill fans have much to look forward to this year. In addition to the Silent Hill movie next month, Konami plans to release The Silent Hill Collection for the PS2. The collection includes versions of Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3 and Silent Hill 4: The Room. The Silent Hill Collection is slated to arrive in stores April 13, a week before the movie hits. But sources close to 1UP have revealed that Konami is also working on a new Silent Hill for the PSP. Not to be confused with the Silent Hill Experience due later this Spring, this is a proper Silent Hill game - perhaps even the Silent Hill 1 remake that was recently alleged to be in the works (unless that happens to be the PS3 Silent Hill game in development).
