stillfastasleep
In a recent financial earnings statement, Ubisoft has some good news and some bad news. The good news is that they made 250 million euros ($305 million) in the tail end of 2005, up 35% from last year. The company cited Peter Jackson?s King Kong and Prince of Persia The Two Thrones as two key titles contributing to this success. The bad news is that Tom Clancy?s Splinter Cell Double Agent has been pushed back from March to September. "In addition, the rescheduling to September 2006 of the launch of Tom Clancy?s Splinter Cell Double Agent is meant to release the title on all platforms simultaneously, including the Microsoft Xbox 360 that should have a much larger installed base by that time," Ubisoft said in the statement. "This will also enable to maintain the highest quality for which Tom Clancy?s Splinter Cell is recognized. This rescheduling will ensure the best return from the coming release as well as from future sequels of this brand over time." Not suprising to see a delay, bit suprising to see it delayed several months and this should help prod MS to get their manufacturing act together. No installed base, no game, MS. A smart overall move by Ubisoft. March to June was getting stacked as it was with Ubisoft products. GR:AW, Blazing Squadrons or whatever its called and Far Cry Instincts Predator. stillfastasleep
Now is the time on Sprockets when we cry. Yes, but delays can be a good thing or so the story goes. Still, the delay is odd when you consider the gameinformer cover feature on SC:DA. I honestly don't mind. I've got my hands full right now with games. Come late March, there's Oblivion and GR:AW and those two alone will keep me occuppied for a long while.

You'll anger the delay gods. They're quick with retribution.
Magness
Very True... March was already loaded so this is good news as far as I'm concerned. I'd rather wait, give them more time to complete the game and hopefully get it up to par.
bendak
I can wait...Oblivion will keep me busy.
Derrik Draven
Oblivion should have me occupied for a long time.
JFo
I'm happy to hear about this delay for no other reason that it gives me a little more time before that killer app title I've been waiting for arrives on the 360. I can't afford one right now, and thought of not being able to play the latest installment of Splinter Cell because of that would make me cry like a little bitch. JoeyN
The 360 version was not coming out till later in the year anyway so i would have waited
Derrik Draven
Hey, isn't S.C. now coming out in and around the time that one of the other major (hopefully) killer apps, known as Gears of War, comes out? Damn...I'm still going to have to juggle a couple of "must haves".
ChrisBardon
If it means delaying it until it's actually complete (as opposed to rushing it out), then I'm all for it. That makes it really late to be coming out with a standard Xbox version though. I wonder if part of the reason for the delay is to come out with a Ps3 version simultaneously (or at least closer to day and date).
EnemaEms
I'll take the delay.....March is too chaotic anyway. -Dean-
Romier S
To tide us over until September, these are rumored to be in-game shots of Double Agent on the 360... foogledricks
http://media.xbox360.ign.com/media/736/736174/vids_1.html Ok, that trailer is freaking awesome! I mean, the implied story makes me want to watch the game. Playing it is just a bonus! And I don't even like Splinter Cell very much. ChrisBardon
Actually, now that the game is delayed, I might actually get around to playing Chaos Theory before I get the new game
Cyberwoo
Having just watched that trailer (nice high res version here: http://www.fileshack.com/file.x?fid=8319) I gotta say I'm really pumped for this. Love the new look and direction of the game. Production value has always been great for this series but from the looks of the trailer they are really going all out with this one. Can't wait....err I guess I have to now.
