In-N-Out 100x100

In-n-Out is the second best burger in the world. Not in the above format, of course, but whenever I visit family I always hit it at least once.

Okay, I'll bite...second best to?

(In-and-Out and Sonic are both on my list of fast food to try before I die. Krispy Kreme was on there for years as well but we finally got one here in CT and...well it wasn't worth the wait...)

I was sworn to secrecy... I'll tell you but then I'll have to kil... aww, fuck it:

There's a place in the city called Corner Bistro. It's been featured on a few of those food network travel channel things. It's a pub in which nothing has changed for around 100 years, including the grills and ovens they use, save of course for price. I'm of the opinion that because they're using the same grill, it's been seasoned better than any other grill in the world. Maybe cherubs bless the cows. Others believe it's because Corner Bistro is around the corner from NYC's meatpacking district and they get their pick. I think it's just one great freaking burger.

The menu pretty much has three things on it: Bistro Burger, Fries, Beer. If you try to order something else, they will look at you and pretend they did not hear that. I was with a girl once who tried to order a chicken sandwich there. The guy didn't even say anything, walked away, and brought her a burger.

They're served to you on paper. It's a bacon cheeseburger. The bacon is perfectly crisp. The fries are subtle, never over cooked, never overly soggy. The beer is cold. The bun is toasted on the same grill.

If you're ever in the city, do yourself a favor and try one. You will be forever changed.

Oh, I have heard of that place...now it is my mission in life to track it down. Thanks for sharing, man; I will share with you the secrets of the best restaurants that Connecticut has to offer in return, just as soon as they build one. :D

Hey, there's a good Ethiopian place in New Haven!

You're not missing anything with Sonic. Pretty standard fare. Whataburgers are much better.

I've never had a bona fide White Castle Burger. The had 'em in rhe frozen food section so I tried and wasn't impressed.

Not much different than what I got while living near St Louis at the restaurant. Most people I knew then ate them after 11 or so when they are sobering up.

Shame, though. Not too many Burgers-n-fries meals on my diet.

That's the beauty of finding the perfect burger, though - you save it for special occasions. The whoreburgers out there at the fast food joints are just sad immitations of the real thing that should be savored and not abused on a daily basis.

Fuddruckers makes a decent burger but the best burger I ever had was the Bison Burger at The Heartland Brewery in NYC.

Interesting choice. For alternative fuel burgers (non-beef), I'd recommend Waterfront Ale House - in both Manhattan and Brooklyn. Ed's been there and I believe he gave it a thumb's up.

Some people swear by Old Town Pub in NYC, which is even older than Corner Bistro, but I find their burgers inconsequential.

For a damn fine burger in NYC, I highly recommend P.J. Clarke's (3rd Ave. and 55th). Link Here

The burgers are kinda small, so if you require a monster burger to fill you up, you might consider ordering 2 -- but they are excellent.

As for White Castle... I just went there a few months back, for the first time in years. I was treating some friends from out of town who had never tried them before. Let me just say, I remember them being a lot tastier when I was back in high school & college. They seem to have lost some of their luster over the years.
