Bruce B
http://www.cbs.com/primetime/survivor12/survivors/bio_danielle.shtml 4 Teams this time. This "exile island" thing should be an interesting twist.
Carlucci
Thanks for the reminder, Bruce. I had let this one slip off my radar. Carlos.
The Daisy
I have to get my Tivo working on this one. I'd like to try and follow one from the beginning again. Glen
rustyjaw
Did I hear something about 4 teams? Or am I imagining it? EDIT: Duh, maybe I should read the first post.
Carlucci
4 teams, 1 person banished to different Island each episode. not a major spoiler at all but just in case..... Catch is, while there, they can hunt for the special immunity idol. And, this year, if you find the idol, you don't have to declare you have it before the vote. You can use it after the vote is cast and the person with 2nd most votes would go instead. It will definitely add some new twists. Carlos. The Daisy
Oooh. That is a sweet twist. Glen
rustyjaw
must...resist...spoiler...
rustyjaw
So the 4 people per team thing has already brought out differences. On larger teams it's way easier to simply pick a misfit, or a weak-link...but with that few people, they felt threatened and took out the strongest player. It's too bad because she was the most interesting one on that team. It will be interesting to see if these smaller teams keep reacting the same way. Carlucci
The 3 pack a day smoker will be insane soon. Btw Ed, the spoiler was covered last night, so no need to resist now. Carlos.
kelley
I was bored the last season, but last night really made me excited by Survivor again. I love the whole Exile Island idea, it will be really great to see how well it plays out. Currently pulling for the older men team, as I can't wait to see the smoker go off. And the karate guy is just funny to watch him swing the blade.
Bruce B
The poor African American woman couldnt keep those bombs inside her bathing suit could she? And Misty, the "missile engineer". Thats gotta be slang for something else.
Carlucci
I was disappointed that they merged into two tribes already. I would have liked to see a few more weeks of 4 tribes. CancerMan cracks me up. I hope he stays around or else it might get too boring. If he smokes 3 packs a day, that's like one cigarette every 15 minutes, right? Carlos. Bruce B
Cancer man reminds me of Tommy Lee. One of the girls(I forget which one) looks like she has 2 very ripe melons under her top. I like that Mr. Miaggi dude but they didnt show much footage of him on the exile island for being there 3 days.
kelley
Sucks really bad that they already merged into two teams. Also didn't they do last nights challenge in the past few seasons?
Carlucci
That was the best immunity challenge in a long time. It almost turned into UFC-lite there for a minute. And the end, when dude just kinda non-chalantly dragged the girl over to his base and then took the bag away, was hysterical. We watched it 4 times just to make sure we could believe our eyes. Carlos.
Bruce B
The reward challenge was fun and the sheer physicality of the immunity challenge was a riot. Where these people summoned the strength to do that is beyond me, although I found it funny in the last round they all walked towards the sandbag. Bruce B
Can you almost predict that the guy that found the idol will win this thing. He is a strong player and with this does it make him invincible?
kelley
being that he can keep it secret, who knows.
Sparkz
Invincibility's a tough call. At this point La Mina has only 5 members while Casaya has 7. Unless they can pull of immunity in the next two challenges, La Mina won't have the numbers going in to the merge. Assuming Casaya does, they'd be foolish not to go after Terry. He'd use the idol at that point to save himself, but there would still be 4 or 5 tribal councils for the others to vote him out. He can't win immunity each time, can he? And wouldn't the two younger guys see him as enough of a threat to break their alliance? The biggest unknown that make it hard to predict the outcome is who would have the second highest number of votes after Terry and be ousted at the tribal council after the merge. Bruce B
Just a reminder the final show is on tonight.
Bassmasa
My wife and I managed to watch every episode this season (I love you, DVR) and this continues to be one of only about 3 shows we regularly watch. I gotta say that Cirie really impressed me this time around, I would have loved to see her work her magic in the final 3, but it was not meant to happen. Danielle totally screwed herself and had no shot to win with either Terry or Aras, but she should be proud to make Final 2. Incidentally, Shane is now my all time favorite and Courtney has the most amazing ability to move her mouth and make sounds that sound like words without actually saying anything...she should be in PR or politics. I liked the hidden immunity idol and Exile Island aspect, but the show needs something new. I don't know what (I guess that's why I'm not a producer), but it's getting a bit long in the tooth. Is Jeff Probst still hosting the next one?
James T
I agree that the show needs something new to keep it going. Since around season 2, I was hoping for a much colder climate, but the producers probably felt there was too much of a risk. They can even try a gimmick Survivor, like Survivor: Amish life. When it comes down to it, the characters make or break the show, but you can only take characters so far before the viewers tune them out. Whooter
I doubt there will ever be a Survivor that doesn't provide an opportunity for the contestants (particularly the females) to wear as little as possible. Which is why you don't see Survivor: Adak.
Bassmasa
What about a Survivor with couples? I guess that would be a bit too close to the Amazing Race, but it would be absolutely sweet to see husband/wife combinations battle it out. The whole thing would probably turn into a giant "Indecent Proposal" season, but the possibilities would be pretty cool.
