Romier S
Marble Blast is a decent little diversion thus far. Nothing fantastic though. To be quite honest the beginner levels are dreadful. Utterly boring, and devoid of any challenge whatsoever. I damn near fell asleep through most of them. The intermediate levels on the other hand start upping the challenge level up nicely. Not sure if it's worth the 10 bucks (800 points) to get it just yet. I may end up a bit more high on it after I've gotten to the advanced stuff. I also want to try the 8 player online matches.
Orpheus
I'm really enjoying it, the beginners levels are easy to get through, but getting that under par achievement is gonna be tough. Love that you can see inidividual scoreboards for each level, I think shaving seconds off a level to keep ahead of your firends is where the single player replay is at. See you on the Bunny Slope!! Calvin
It's pretty pathetic' date=' but I've been obsessively checking for Marble Blast every day. [b']Finally[/b], I am downloading it. Hope it doesn't suck. Edit: I might buy Marble Blast. At $5 I'd be pretty free with my game downloads, but at $10 I start to think about it a bit more and gauge the purchase against picking up discount PS2/Xbox/GC games. The lack of a distinctive physics system and the ability to jump both take away from the depth Marble Blast might have had. You can jump in Marble Blast, though admittely it's fairly limited. Anyways,I downloaded it,figuring I have some free points to use.So far,I like it,though like Romier says the beginning levels are pretty easy. Don't fret, though - it does get harder,& fast. I don't want to think about the advanced levels... I'd like to get some multiplayer going on it at some point.Anyone interested?
Big Daddy Bling Bling
I was only applying "lack of" to the physics system but I see how the sentence could have been read the other way. IMO the ability to jump takes away from the game. I prefer having to work to get the ball airborne a-la Super Monkey Ball.
ChrisBardon
Grabbed Marble Blast this morning, and I've noticed that the difficulty has ramped up pretty quickly in the intermediate levels. Seems like it's worth the 5 bucks though.
Romier S
So how's everyone doing in Marble Blast? I'm under par on 46 of the 60 levels right now. The advanced stuff gets maddeningly difficult, but it's damn hard to put the game down. I'm definitely looking forward to trying the online modes this Wednesday with you guys. JoeyN
Im at about level 45 i believe. Think im under part on 40 of them. First time im just trying to finish everything. Then ill go back
Solitice
I haven't been able to get as far due to my 3yr old daughter fighting the controller away from me to play it. Its so much better for her than super monkey ball because she can play for as long as she likes without a timer running out. Good game, well worth the price of admission. boogieman
So how's everyone doing in Marble Blast? I'm under par on 46 of the 60 levels right now. The advanced stuff gets maddeningly difficult, but it's damn hard to put the game down. I'm definitely looking forward to trying the online modes this Wednesday with you guys. I've got about 7 more levels in advanced to go and these are fucking nuts. There's the half pipe one that I can't seem to transfer out of and into the other. Then the level right before it, I've gotten 2 of the 3 jewels in it, but I can't seem to hit the gravity icon to completely turn the world upside down and get that last jewel. Everything is under par except for like 3 of the ones in advanced that I've done.
ChrisBardon
On par in the first 40, and just starting on the advanced ones now. Still haven't made par on the first level of the advanced batch yet after many, many tries...
Romier S
We're definitely going to start adding in some Marble Blast to our weekly gaming schedule. Last night was a fun time, and I think we can get some really fun games going. Make sure to keep an eye on the Online Gaming area for some additions to next week's schedule. Carlucci
For Marble Blast, how about an LCVG Level of the Week Challenge? We designate a certain level from Moderate or Hard difficulty as this week's level, and then everyone goes nuts for trying to get the lowest time. It would be very similar to the MAT contest, which whaddayaknow, I WON! Would you guys be interested in something like that? Carlos.
Romier S
Oh heck yeah Carlos. That would be excellent.
Union Carbine
So what's the Marble Blast mulitplayer like? I got the invite to play last night but I haven't decided on buying yet. If the multiplayer is the shiznit then I'll probably plunk down the cash.
Romier S
It's basically about racing for gems. You plunked down in these sizeable maps and you have to roll your way to the gems (which come in blue, yellow, and red denoting point values of 5, 2, and 1) before anyone else does. The person with the most points at the end of the match wins. There's a good variety of maps, and the power-ups make for some fun jumps and collisions which usually ends up with you and your opponent both getting flung off the map and into the abyss. It's very enjoyable, especially considering the buy in price and how simple it all is in the end.
Romier S
Split the Marble Blast discussion here so that we can keep the Live Marketplace and Arcade thread fairly open for new announcements and released.
Baiter
There's the half pipe one that I can't seem to transfer out of and into the other.I can't figure that one out either. If you figure it out let us know. There also one where there's 4 or 5 trap doors setup as steps, I tried for an hour with no luck. Then there's construction, can't seem to get those jumps right either. Other then those 3 I think I'm done all of the advanced, some of them were very painful so I doubt I'll end up going back for pars on the advanced levels. ColdForged
I can't figure that one out either. If you figure it out let us know. I've heard that it's a bit like strafe jumping in Quake 3, you have to hop a bit which -- for some unknown reason -- produces enough speed boost to make the big jumps. Carlucci
It looks like there is a glitch on the leaderboards that causes your friend's scores to not show up. I had empty friends lists for the later levels, but I know a lot of you have already finished. Then when you did show up, they were listed out of order. Anyone else seeing this? Carlos.
Romier S
Yep, I only see one or two folks, and I know a good number of you guys on my friends list have the game.
foos
I had a dozen or so friends on the leaderboard yesterday and today they're gone. I did notice some of them displaying out of order. Maybe they are fixing that. In the meantime, for those that are fealing competative I am ranked 4786 and I just started the advanced levels. merlot
I just checked this thread to see if anyone was having the leaderboard problem with not seeing Friends. Looks like I'm not alone.
boogieman
Damn. I thought I was a bad ass and had beat levels that others have not.
Covak
So what ever happened to that level of the week idea? I'd be all over that. I had fun getting 57th on level 12 last night I haven't seen any problems with the friends leaderboards, except that they appear to be in no particular order, which is kind of annoying. Hopefully they can fix that. Multiplayer in this game is a freakin' riot. I love it The advanced single-player levels are turning out to be a wonderful pain in the ass, too At first I found the funky physics (or maybe it's just the way the controls work) awkward, but now I actually like it because it's different (from any other ball-rolling game I've played) and challenging, and allows for some cool and crazy maneuvers. Carlucci
I was wating for the friends list fix before starting the level-of-the-week idea. I also show them, but they are random. I don't suppose that would be a problem though. Last time I checked, friends were not showing up at all on the later levels. If the friends list is okay, I'll put together the official declaration of the game tonight. Mods, do you want a separate thread for that, or should we just keep it here in this thread? Carlos.
