secretvampire
Damn that's tempting, even though my time is completely maxed out right now and there is no way I should be delving into something like this! And yes, I'm one of those that's been known to lose days at a time to the Civ games.
PoisonJam
Interesting, I even have a $30 BB gift card left over from Xmas...hmmm...

The Daisy
I really need to play this a bit more. I'm just near the end of my first game with some of the sped up settings. I'm really enjoying it though, well worth the $29.99 that I paid for it at Best Buy. Glen

GreenMonkey
Best. Civ. Ever. Worth the $50 I paid for it. And I rarely buy a game on release. And I didn't really like Civ 3 much (more of a Civ 1/2 & Master of Magic fan).
Chris The Rock
Bought this, but can't install it. Getting a 'catastropic failure' when attempting to finish the install with disc 2. I'm trying a couple things to get around it, but it looks like I might have to take it back for a replacement. Which will suck, because I got the next-to last copy in the store. *sigh*
dogbert
Bought this, but can't install it. Getting a 'catastropic failure' when attempting to finish the install with disc 2. This is a known issue - check the support site on Take Two's webpage. Once suggestion, as I've seen it helping other people, when it asks if you want to install DirectX, be sure to say yes, even if you're already uptodate. Chris The Rock
This is a known issue - check the support site on Take Two's webpage. Once suggestion, as I've seen it helping other people, when it asks if you want to install DirectX, be sure to say yes, even if you're already uptodate. Thanks for the suggestion, but the error I got doesn't have a solution, other than 'get another disc from the retailer'. It's nowhere on the 2Kgames support FAQ's for the game. I'm not prompted to install DirectX at all (though there is an insert with the game warning the user to install it when asked, even if they already have it.) After installing everything on disc 1, it asks for disc 2, then abruptly quits with a an error that includes the words 'catastrophic failure.' After that, you can do nothing except try again, which never works. Here's one forum topic on the issue: http://www.forumplanet.com/planetcivilization/topic.asp?fid=15498&tid=1827519 Fortunately for me, I exchanged the game today and was able to install the second copy - though I've heard that many others have had to try two or three copies of the game before finding one that works.
