rustyjaw
(Please note that tendril's cool pics are a continuation of the "Post your pics" thread. You can find the first part here. --mod.) Been going nuts with this camera, I'm in love. I'm up to 1550 pictures, although many of those are bracket shots to ensure at least one proper exposure. Here's a sample of some new ones: http://www.rustyjaw.com/pictures/curved_grating.jpg http://www.rustyjaw.com/pictures/no-parking-garage.jpg http://www.rustyjaw.com/pictures/scrape-rust.jpg http://www.rustyjaw.com/pictures/rusted-staples.jpg http://www.rustyjaw.com/pictures/yellow-mooring.jpg http://www.rustyjaw.com/pictures/muni-escalator-stairs.jpg http://www.rustyjaw.com/pictures/self-reflection.jpg http://www.rustyjaw.com/pictures/crazy-mirror.jpg http://www.phosfor.com/pictures/embarcadero-skyward.jpg http://www.phosfor.com/pictures/sidewalk-smoker-small.jpg

rustyjaw
woha that last one is cool howed you do it? I messed with the saturation levels in Photoshop to make the car stand out more. The car itself really was that color.

Bassmasa
Man, these pictures are awesome. I've become a (very) amatuer photographer since I got a digital camera, but have really only taken pictures of my son. Photoshop is awesome for messing with black/white color contrasts and making certain things pop out...family pictures can make great gifts and people really think they took a lot of time and care. Keep 'em coming, guys!
Ryan FB
Finally upgraded my camera as a graduation present from myself, to myself. It's a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5 (I think someone else here has one?), took my first few photos with it yesterday.
rustyjaw
Nice Ryan! Did you crop it, or does it take wide shots like that? EDIT: Hey Brian, I never saw your shots, I love that high-rise downtown that you shot. I have shot it a few times, even its reflection:
rustyjaw
Nice work, guys! Ed - do you have any of those pattern ones in desktop format again? Josh, sorry I never responded to this, I didn't see it. Since the time you posted, I opened an account on Flickr and upload all my images there. I upload very large source images that are suitable for desktops. My profile is here, and you can find the high-res shots by clicking on a given image, and then click the "all sizes" button above the larger view. Hope that makes sense. Starhawk
Your stuff is always great, Ed. Typically not the kind of stuff I shoot, but that's probably why i find it interesting.
Ryan FB
Nice Ryan! Did you crop it' date=' or does it take wide shots like that?[/quote']Thanks, that one was a crop to get rid of a huge bush in the foreground, but it does have a 1920x1080 mode as well. I really like your building photos and the close up colorful/grungy ones as well, keep it up! Also, what's that statue in Brian's first picture? It's like a creepy Andy Griffith is coming after you. dogbert
That's my last picture, tendril. I really wasn't expecting a statue of Ghandi, had to take a photo of it. The statue in the first picture is behind the Metreon in Yerba Beuna Gardens, I think it's called "Trembling Man", presumably earthquake related. Like your photos of that skyscraper, it's a very distinctive building with those ripples.
Ryan FB
That's a statue of Gandhi behind the ferry building. This one is? Edit: ah, thanks. They did a really nice job with it, when I first glanced at it I thought you had done some multiple-exposure camera trickery to get that effect. dogbert
Heh, I wish I was good enough with a camera to do multiple exposure trickery. I'm a point & shoot guy. That statue would look way cooler if taken by someone who has a clue at the right time of day.

I understand that some newer cameras have HDR features built-in, but for the rest of us mortals, there's Photoshop. Basically, take a couple shots at different settings and then merge them with the Photoshop tools. Type "HDR" into flickr to see some examples like these: I'll give it a shot as soon as I get my camera back (loaned out right now).

Cyberwoo
Nice pics all. Keep em coming. Hey Tendril...what kind of camera are you using and how much photoshop work are you applying to those pics? Your pics look great. Edit: Whoa...nice pics gunner. We have some talented photographers here.

I'm pretty lucky in that where I live is basically surrounded by horse farms, so I can just walk out my front door and take pictures like this:
Bassmasa
Awesome, where do you live? I'm in Owensboro now, but lived in Lexington for 6 years and really miss Central Kentucky. The farms there provide more than enough scenes to keep you busy for years!
Ryan FB
I live in Versailles, just far enough out from Lexington to be highly inconvenient.
