Andre F
I think the only non-online game I'm getting now is Matrix and maybe Knight of the Republic. I love that online play and this is just the right price.
kelley
Actually we will start to see more and more games at the new $39.99 price point.
Buck
Ok, well it looks as though SegaGT Online has finally made it's release date  As long as my EB has it in (bad weather the past few days) I'll be up for a few races tomorrow night. Anybody else plan on picking this up tomorrow?
adamsappel
I think the weather is going to keep me inside, but please post your impressions, Scott. I hated GT2002, I'm only getting this for the online rally mode. My questions: what is unlocked for online play from the start, is the rally mode multi-player or time trial, how's the co-op rally mode, how many rally tracks/cars are there to start/unlockable? Thanks.
Chris F
For 20$ I'll be picking it up. Can't really go wrong for that price. I just hope I don't need to have unlocked everything in SGT2002 to have fun with the online portion.
rustyjaw
I just hope I don't need to have unlocked everything in SGT2002 to have fun with the online portion. Does that imply that you need to have played SGT2002 to play SGTOnline?
Chris F
Does that imply that you need to have played SGT2002 to play SGTOnline? Wow! I hope not! I had a decent save with Sega GT 2002 on my old Xbox, but haven't started one on my new one.
adamsappel
I think you can import a SegaGT2002 gamesave, but you don't have to. I imagine you'll have to unlock cars and pass license tests as in the original, but I'm sure some tracks/cars/modes are open right away for online play. There's a downloadable SGT02 save on an OXM disk that gives you a huge amount of money and a Jaguar that make it easy to win early races and licenses. Of all the stuff I've read about it, I've never seen mention of it. So, it looks like you might want to pass on it. Either way, I'll let you know. <!--QuoteBegin-dogbert@Jan 27 2004, 11:54 PM Not a chance I thought you loved SegaGT and the Gran Turismo series, Brian
Romier S
For $20 I'm sold. My everlasting need to support Sega is pulling the strings on this one.
merlot
I'll be picking it up. I have a nice collection of modded cars in my garage.
Whooter
I went to my local Gamestop (where I *did* get Metal Arms), and they said they wouldn't have it until Feb. 3rd...
Chris F
they said they wouldn't have it until Feb. 3rd... Same thing at the Gamestop by my house. It does say Shipping Feb. 2 on the website as well. EBGames still lists it as shipping Jan 27.
Buck
I got the call from EB and I'm on way to pick it up
merlot
I was at EB during lunch, said Fedex was a bit behind schedule and should be there by 4pm. Needless to say, when the quitting bell rings at 4:30, I'll be heading over
ant1
Look forward to reading your opinion of the game Buck. Being clear across the world here in Canada we probably won't see the game for a few weeks.
Buck
I just got back from EB with SegaGT and I'm getting ready to give it a spin. One point of interest is the inclusion of team modes which I'll go into more detail about when I'm done playing for a little bit. But, be assured, they are very cool indeed
Whooter
I have returned from a far more enlightened EBGames, with Sega GT Online in hand. Headed online shortly...will be looking for Buck...

Buck
First, let me start off by saying I enjoyed the first SegaGT on the Xbox. Now that we have that out of the way there are a few things, ok, a lot of things that make me go 1- The menus and the Gathering Mode (new to SegaGT Online) are in 720p. But, they're like Soul Calibur 2 in that they are windowed, otherwise the game runs in 480p widescreen 2- While you can import your old save game from the original, none of your cars or money are there. Instead you are given an extra $100,000 to build up your garage 3- You need to be a rocket scientist in order to understand the menu system 4- My head hurts Now, there are some good things going for it. Team modes. One of the modes is most likely what Allen was referring to. In this mode, one person is the driver the other the co-pilot. The drivers screen has the vision obstructed, while the co-pilot has a clear screen and can let the driver know what is coming up, where the opponent is, all by voice or through button commands. The other mode is basically like a relay. I played this with 5 others, 3 per team, so 2 teams. Basically, one person starts the race from each team and the other members see the race through the eyes of the driver. After the first lap is completed it's time for the next team member to drive and so on from there. It really is a lot of fun and makes for some interesting races. Overall, my initial impressions are those of disappointment, but hopefully that will change over time, but really, for $20 it's a decent game, especially for race fans. Heck, it's still a lot better than Corvette, aka Poo. I'll post more after I've played more online.
Robot Monkey
Team mode sounds interesting and long due for online racers (wasn't this dropped from Rallisport 2?). Is it fun? -j
