Shonuff
<span style='color:red'> LOL the movie " Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon" rocked, plain and simple. The Shogun of harlem is KING.I love blacksploitation but that movie owns all. But what did you think of the new front page? :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: :?: </span>
Mark E
The Front Page is... drumroll... not bad. The V in the LCVG top logo is actually squish. I wouldn't have noticed this except I was flicking between the second front page design at http://www.lcvg.com/index.php to compare and it's really, really noticeable once you see it. Where the wiring is, I personally liked the select box that let you immediately choose a platform and jump there. That's just me, but that was ultra-efficient quick access. News streamer on the left, I like much. Titles for the individual sections are nice, but they're blurry (GameCube, Playstation 2, etc). Not sure if the orange diamonds would look better with a different color for each or not. I'm probably in the minority, but I really like the gray checkered background on the second design too. And the //Editorial etc for each section. But I understand the idea behind going platform-specific right on the main page, so it's a personal preference. I just like being able to quickly see what's new in reviews for ALL platforms at once, then ALL the news, then ALL the editorials, with the system-specific link buttons letting me disseminate the information as necessary. That's how I like it, but I know others prefer it the other way . It doesn't like like that asstacular new GameSpot revamp though, so big props there. Camp
It's a super-clean look. I like that there is less orange. Nothing against orange but the previous design was almost screaming orange. The over-all design is much more complementary to the look of the forums. For the most part I like it a lot. Where the wiring is, I personally liked the select box that let you immediately choose a platform and jump there. That's just me, but that was ultra-efficient quick access. I totally agree. If the site is going to be designed in sections (based on platforms) this sort of quick access makes sense. If the site isn't going to be designed that way, the gray bar to the right of the wiring is just awfully plain...kind of makes the wiring look out of place. Perhaps this blank gray area could be used as a link to the platforms and to the forums? -or is it space for a ad? I also agree that the titles above each of the 4 screenshots look very blury. Not sure what that is but it could use a serious clean-up. The screenshots appear to be suffering from the same problem as you can't really make anything out (though that may have more to do with the selection of a particular image). I suspect the "frame" used for each segment is responsible though. My only other thought is to highlight the entrance to the forums. It seems the forums are what will bring readers back over and over so they should be highlighted accordingly. As mentioned above, adding a forum link to the top might do it. Romier S
The V in the LCVG top logo is actually squish. ...and that would be because the entire header is not anywhere near complete. The designer and I simply replaced the logo up there quickly (partly because he didnt have the font I used) and did the best we could with the time we had. The header is being redesigned to integrate into the page better (with a rather nice and subtle effect being added to the whole bar which Ill save for final viewing) So what you see there is not anywhere near final. Where the wiring is, I personally liked the select box that let you immediately choose a platform and jump there. That's just me, but that was ultra-efficient quick access. Again, your looking at something that is not complete. (I should slap my fun designer here for posting this page as of yet since I was going to pass things by Kelley and Scott first but Ill let him slide for now  ) . The wiring design (which is still being cleaned up mind you) is going to lead into buttons for each specific platform in that grey area, that was the plan here all along which is why that great big grey area is completely empty. Also there will be search functionality added to this section and the header along with a rather robust "advanced search" option under that. Problem is Romier was up until 9AM this morning working with my very patient designer and after working 8-9 hours on things we needed to quit sometime . The design is again still being worked on hence why there is nothing in that grey bar. but they're blurry (GameCube, Playstation 2, etc). Not sure if the orange diamonds would look better with a different color for each or not. What is in those windows is simply "mockup". The reason why is because those four windows will eventually be tied into the PHP on the site so we can easily update the pics and the links with little hassle (as well as the news on the top left with quips and remarks as kelley discussed). The issue is of course that I cant have the PHP worked on until I get a design mockup for the PHP person to get a good idea what we need. So we simply threw some pics up (we were not concerned with the quality as this section is again nothing but an HTML mockup). Also note that the Brute Force pic was thrown as quickly as possible as well because that window will be a regularly updated flash animation Highlighting out top story. As for the blurriness of the header bars. Noted and has been added to the to do list of things to iron out. I totally agree. If the site is going to be designed in sections (based on platforms) this sort of quick access makes sense. See above Camp:) As mentioned above, adding a forum link to the top might do it. Noted. May add that to the bar right above the main screen windows for further exposure. Also thinking about adding a "Latest Threads" section to show the 5 latest threads in the forum on the main page. However be aware that the news (and every news story) pages along with most of everything on the site (ie editorials, reviews) will have a nice "discuss" button which will lead folks right to the forum and an already running thread to promote use of the forums. The forums are very important to the structure of this site so no worries on that front. Thanks for the feedback guys as this is the kind of stuff I need to get things ironed out. Please however remember that alot of the things you guys are pointing out are simply left over things that are still being worked on (which is why I wanted to clear some stuff up) and would be up if only Shonuff and my tired ass had the ability to work without sleep
Mark E
Well, your gangsta ninja designer should let us know what is still "in progress" so we don't start pointing out things that are gonna get fixed . Don't shoot the messenger boys . Shoot Robot Monkey instead .
Romier S
Well, your gangsta ninja designer should let us know what is still "in progress" so we don't start pointing out things that are gonna get fixed Again, my gangsta ninja designer will be slapped several time about the lip for posting this to begin with (DIG IT SHO! DIG IT!) but seriously.. It was posted a bit early as Sho was understandably enthused and I wanted to give this a run through with my partners in crime but whats done is done. Don't get sassy with me Marky Mark 8) or I'll have to bring down the pain. Being serious though, I really do appreciate all the feedback as I've been in 5th gear lately trying to get alot of site work done and any and all suggestions just help to make my job easier. So thanks messenger! I wont bother shooting Robot, Ive done that enough in Wolfenstein

Mark E
Very very nice, the difference between yesterday and today is amazing, even with just the things that were gonna be fixed anyway but we bitched about . I love the metallic system picker thingies. When it's all sharp with the graphics, it's mue bueno. I'm sure there's stuff that can be improved, but nothing is reaching out and grabbing me right at the mo'. Very nice design, me likee.
