Viewtiful Joe

All righty ya'll, in anticipation of a seriously anticipated title, here's the spot to discuss your thoughts on just how viewtiful Viewtiful Joe actually is. To get your mouths watering for the October 7th release date, you can get your first four page review over at IGN Cube. For those of you looking for the quick 'n dirty, they give the game a hefty 9.5 score. I do believe that may be the highest Cube score from IGN since Wind Waker came out.

Oh, one nice thing, they're saying it has actual old-school levels of difficulty. Tempting, very tempting!

To be honest, I have not paid much attention to this title until recently. I knew about. Viewtiful Joe certainly has one of the most memorable titles of recent memory, but I didn't really look into it all that much.

Having said that, the IGN review has me very excited about this game now. I'm a sucker for 2-D side-scrollers, especially those with an insane difficulty level. (Hell, I bought a PS2 almost for the sole purpose of playing Contra: Shattered Soldier, which I adore.) I also love the artistic design of the game. To hear about its unique combat system and its smooth controls has me very excited as well. I may end up getting this one now. We'll see...

The only reason I seem hesitant is due to a slight lack of funds (damn you, bills!). Believe me, there is no shortage of interest or anticipation on my part. Also, I still have a few other games to work my way through before I jump into Joe.

Could depend on where you live. Up here, since we're a ways out from Ontario, we won't see the game on shelves until Thursday at the earliest. That's happened with every game ever released since I've had my Cube I think. Not sure if the States is similarly affected by location, but that's how it happens for us.

I'm glad to hear it has some old-school difficulty. Contra: Shattered Soldier has still yet to be completed by me, but it feels good to be humbled by a game once in a while. Not that I'm some world-beater, far from it. I just have fond memories of games like Mega Man and Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!! kicking the crap out of me, but not to the point where I didn't want to come back and play some more. It's not often that a 2D game like this comes out, and as a fan of the genre it's always a treat if the game turns out to be something special.

If I WAS getting this (and I very nearly was until a great deal on some Doctor Who DVDs blew my budget apart :P) I would start on Adult. I mean, why ditch your play value by going through the game on Kid mode? It's like playing Resident Evil on Easy. CapCom tends to make their easy modes so damn easy that it completely destroys the play experience for me personally.

You can waltz through RE on easy mode once you have the controls down. I would rather set VJ up a notch and then go through it.

Its at home, Im at work. Usual story of my life.....*sigh*

Heh. I'm at work, it's at work...

And it's damn good fun. Haven't seen much more than the demo stuff so far (as I haven't been the only person playing, and the others have, to be frank, quite royally sucked at it).

Adult difficulty is definitely what to play it on. It's definitely tough, but all the better for it.

Me likey!

Well I had work yesterday, closed the driving range early and so I figured I'd head to EB at about 8 but then I remembered our Powder Puff game was going on so I said hell I'll go there and have fun etc..So I go to EB today to pick up my reserved copy and the quiefgoblin tells me they sold off my copy... So from there after smiting them with my sword which I swing right for justice and left for amusement I head to Best Buy and VJ is nowhere to be found, same as in Circuit City right after. Finally I picked it up at Toys R us...

I am going to clean my room up a bit and then hit the game up.

Cheers. :lmfao:
