Josh
I figured this was worth a shot... Anyone have any recommendations for places to stay in London? I'm thinking of taking Annie there for the holidays. A cute hotel or even rented apartment for a few days would be nice. I know next to nothing about London, though, so if you know of any hotels or areas to avoid, that would be helpful as well. Thanks in advance! JTello
Here's a nice little place,... Sorry, it had to be done!
dogbert
What's your price range, Stencil? I can ask around. The last time I visited London, we stayed in the Victoria Park Plaza, near Victoria Station & thoroughly liked it - good service, good rooms, and great location (very short walk to Victoria Station). This was a couple of years ago, mind.
Josh
As for price range, Park Plaza looks about right - around 100-200GBP/night. Looks like a nice place. Thanks. I'll keep that in mind - surprisingly good rates for what looks to be pretty modern amenities.
dogbert
Yep, it was very modern inside, very stylish lobby etc, and we were perfectly happy with it. Not the biggest rooms in the world, but that's to be expected.
Sparkz
My company sent me to London for a training class in 2003, and believe it or not, I stayed at the same hotel. I thought it was a fine place, and although I have no basis for comparison to other hotels in London, the room I stayed in was bigger than ones I have stayed at in NYC. As Dogbert mentioned, it is very convenient to Victoria Station and the Underground (Subway). Since I was there for a class, I didn't get much time for tourist activities, but from what I can remember from maps...most of the sites you'd want to see were close by. That area around Victoria Station also seemed to be a Theatre district, as I noticed several shows on my way to and from the subway. I really wanted to see "Jerry Springer...The Opera" but didn't have time. And I had no problem finding restaraunts or pubs, as so many places were within walking distance of the hotel. Josh
Thanks, guys! I'll look into it. I'm trying to figure out what else we'd want to do - perhaps a couple days in Paris as well.
