Angry the Clown
I didn’t really want to start another typical R.I.P/”Death” thread, but felt this would be something a little different and worth posting. One of my favourite film composers, Basil Poledouris, passed away last week at the age of 61. Many here will know him best I imagine for his scores to Conan, Starship Troopers, and Robocop - though his body of work went far beyond that classic trio and he was one of the most criminally underused composers in the industry in his later life due to changes in the system which in turn saw him retreat from Hollywood entirely. This video tribute was made this past Summer to celebrate his coming to Spain to conduct a live performance suite of music from his score for Conan, which apparently was a truly phenomenal evening to behold. The following is a nice way for some of you to hear the larger variety of his work should you be interested enough: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9meRcliFMU Too few left of the school of talent and approach to music that he came from. Carlucci
Sorry to hear of his passing at an early age. I really admire his work on the Quigley Down Under soundtrack more than any others. It looks like they ommitted an actual sample of that music in this montage. (though they did show a clip from the movie). Carlos.
