paul h
Dont know much about this to be fair, just checked out a video which looked quite dark and menacing.. anyone know if this is being done by the ex DMA guys or another team at Rockstar? i assume they're hard at work on GTA4.. ftp://ftp.gamesdomain.co.uk/pub/movies/cd...nt_trailer1.mov
iainl
I know I'll be passing on it. Everything I've heard about it so far tells me they are going sufficiently "dark" that it'll be either laughably badly done, or far more likely just sufficiently nasty I won't enjoy it. I just don't go in for the whole realistic violence thing. GTA has always been peppered with enough humour that I've not taken it seriously, but this looks closer to the played-straight cruelty of Soldier Of Fortune, The Getaway, or Hitman 2, only even further. Really, really not my bag, sorry.
The Daisy
I really don't have much interest in this one. I just haven't seen anything about it that seems to grab me and make me want to purchase it. Glen
paul h
Hmmm i see what youre saying, this seems more akin to state of emergency spliced with thrill kill than GTA. I like the look of some of the characters but in the same way i did with Twisted Metal Black, that had some fantastic design for the characters and FMVs but wasnt a gory game as such and didnt need to be. Sam P
GTA has always been peppered with enough humour that I've not taken it seriously, but this looks closer to the played-straight cruelty of Soldier Of Fortune, The Getaway, or Hitman 2, only even further. The Getaway, for me, didn't feel as dark and sinister and cruel as it was trying to be. After all, the gun-fight sequences felt artificial and there was no real sense that the people you were shooting were any more than automatons. Hitman 2, on the other hand, is worlds more sadistic. You plan, you conspire, you set the kill up. Then you execute it with utmost cruelty. You don't even give the target the benefit of a quick death - sometimes you choke him with a cable. Your controller even vibrated as the victim struggled. It wanted you to feel what it was like to choke another human being. Like the others here, I don't really see anything special about Manhunt that compels me to try it.
dogbert
anyone know if this is being done by the ex DMA guys or another team at Rockstar? i assume they're hard at work on GTA4.. It's being done by DMA, there's more than one team there though they do share people. It's been in development for a good three & a half years. Chris F
Looks like Manhunt will have some user for the USB headset, ala Rainbow Six 3 and SOCOM. No online play, but voices and insturctions via another character in the game. http://ps2.ign.com/articles/458/458100p1.h....html?fromint=

Calvin
Fairly interested, but not enough to get it right away. Into the $20 list it goes...

Chris F
Manhunt is VERY good. Although it's definitely not for everyone. It is a stealth game through and through, and if you're looking for fast action, you probably WON'T like Manhunt. I'm having a good time with it so far. Any like the IGN.com review for it, any time I get caught or die, I always know why it happened. I don't feel it a cheap death. The graphics are very dark and gritty. I play the game at night with the lights off to get the full effect. Some parts are too dark, and I can't play those in the daytime. The voices and sounds are superb. The dialogue some of the "Hunters" say is priceless. The headset connectivity is kind of cool as well. I haven't played with it too much, but it seemed to add a little more to the game overall. Just like the voices thru the headset in Rainbow Six 3. Not necesssary, but very cool and adds to the game.
paul h
Had a good look at this last night and from an atmosphere point of view it's right on the money, the music is very creepy and reminds me of the music from Se7en and NIN style noises.. graphics are also very good, smooth and suitably menacing. Kinda reminds me a bit of Escape From New York done in a Twisted Metal Black style with added blood and guts!! Not for everyone thats fer sure but well put together.
