My crap

I took these pics last night with my wife's crappy point and shoot, someday I'll update them with my real camera.

Front of the room, my TV is a Panasonic 44" LCD-RPTV. We bought it super cheap with the agreement we'd upgrade to something really nice once all the 1080p crap settled. I plan to upgrade to a new set this Christmas holiday.

Notice how my speakers make my TV look tiny.

My new Yamaha RX-V1700, 20GB PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360. Uncompressed audio is so nice.

My rear speakers and home made DVD rack. And most importantly, Zoe dog sitting where she likes to watch movies from.

Close up of my DVDs, this is about half of what I owned this time last year, really got rid of a bunch of the crap. There is still a lot of crap in there though. And yes all my X-Files Sets have Scully facing out, it was done like that on purpose ;)

If that rack is what I think it is, then they make bigger ones. I believe they are "upgradable" in the sense you can add more shelves.

It's hard to say but I think if you moved the rears outwards a bit(spread more far apart if possible) then the sound should improve. I don't know if that's possible given WAF or for that matter an open room. I would also investigate tilting the center upwards. Even something as simple as a doorstop will tilt it enough.

Otherwise I'd agree with you that the speakers make the TV look small.

I'm jealous of the uncompressed audio you are getting out of the next gen formats!

Looks great Kelley. I especially like the component rack. Open and deep. What kind is it and do you know if they make a taller one?

It's a Sanus Systems Euro rack. They are modular so you can make it as tall or short as you want. The base is $80 and then each shelf is $50.

The couch is pretty bad, we got it in 2005 and it already looks twice its age.

I can move one maybe an inch or two and then other about a foot, but thats it.

The center is wedged in there pretty tightly, I need to redo my arrangement in this rack.

Otherwise I'd agree with you that the speakers make the TV look small.

It was the first thing I noticed when I got them home too. My next set will be 60"+.
