Romier S
The next Hot Shots game was announced a good while ago but there's been very little shown of the game (at to my knowledge there has). That looks to have changed with the reveal of a whole load of new screenshots. Did I mention the game looks strangley real? You can see more here: http://www.watch.impress.co.jp/game/docs/20070223/golf5.htm?ref=rss Honestly, what a strange stylistic choice here. Extremely convincing environmental graphics with the token Hot Shots style for the players. I'm not sure if I like it, but man EA could take some pointers from those course shots for the next Tiger...
GrumpyElf
That's so creepy it's cool I have always really enjoyed the fun of the Hot Shots games over the more realistic golf games. I think this looks really good, I can't wait to see it in motion. T.

It's getting a little surreal at this point. Not sure if I love it or hate it... it looks like a Magritte painting. Should be fun, though. I have a friend who's in love with Tiger Woods on his PS3, but I've heard bad things about it elsewhere. This looks like it's a bit more my style - more arcade, less sim. fishepa
I wouldn't call TW a sim, it's more arcade than Hot Shots is IMO.
secretvampire
Wow! That looks pretty neat actually...like somebody dropped a cartoon character into the real world. Beautiful scenery too.
Josh
I wouldn't call TW a sim, it's more arcade than Hot Shots is IMO. Really?! Wow. The presentation / name / licensing had me thinking it was totally the opposite case. Thanks.
Cyberwoo
Ya Tiger Woods golf is extremely easy. So much so it is very boring IMO. There is little to no challenge. I just wish they'd make a new LInks game for the 360. That would make me pretty happy. Them Hotshots screen do look kinda creepy. Diggin the outdoor detail though. Josh
I just want a more complex golf game for the Wii. The one in Wii Sports gets a lot of play time for me. I love it.
Ricky G
Ya Tiger Woods golf is extremely easy. So much so it is very boring IMO. There is little to no challenge. Hmmm. I'm not sure you guys are playing on Tour difficulty. It takes a decent amount of skill to break par.
secretvampire
I just wish they'd make a new LInks game for the 360. Good call. I put an awful lot of time into the Links game for the regular Xbox, it was very well put together. TW always bored the piss out of me when I'd try the demos. A followup to the game was planned and then dumped when the developer, Indie Built, was shut down early last year.

weremichael
I so love the Hot Shots series. onr of the only reasons I bought the PSP. Might make me buy the PS3 I didn't know I loved the series UNTIL I played it on my PSP. Those screenshots are dreamy. Josh, you nailed it with the Magritte comparison. Maybe a bowler hat and a pipe will be unlockables.
rustyjaw
Really?! Wow. The presentation / name / licensing had me thinking it was totally the opposite case. Thanks. Hot Shots has an really great physics engine. Sure it has some over-the-top stuff like ultra backspin, but to me it feels more simmy than TW...and in many ways similar to Links. It's a challenging game with a near-perfect learning curve. I love the look in hi-def, too. EDIT: One other great thing about Hot Shots is the course design, it's fantastic, really much better than the fake courses in TW.
Tom
EDIT: One other great thing about Hot Shots is the course design, it's fantastic, really much better than the fake courses in TW. Not to thread jack Hot Shots too much, but fake courses in TW? I can load up my copy of TW '07 for the 360 and go play a round at Pinehurst, Pebble Beach or St. Andrews (and a nice few others) right now if I was so inclined. back OT now: These game's graphics do look very next gen, which seemed odd to me at first based on my brief touches with the style I had previously associated this game with. I'm not sure I would put it that far ahead of TW 07 in terms of graphical capabilities, but I'm seeing a bit more detail in the trees and surrounding environments. I'd have to see same gameplay to see how fluid the gameplay is in that environment, I look forward to more info. I didn't play a lot of this series on the PS2 as I wasn't that into golf then, but now I'm a golf junkie (started playing like a madman last summer) and will definitely be keeping my eye on my next "fix". On a bright note, it is really good to see developers getting a handle on the PS3's capabilities.
EnemaEms
Three things: Ricky is spot on about Tiger's difficulty. Don't play it on the default level. Like Madden, the default difficulty is just for learning the game. Tiger's courses are very real, and very accurate. Hot Shots looks incredible. I too want to see it in motion. I never played a Hot Shots game, but I will give this one a whirl. -Dean-

Sorry, I realize now that my statement was too vague. I was strictly comparing the made-up courses in TW (I believe "Predator" is one such course) with the courses in HS, which are all made-up. I have no problem with the real courses in TW, even if the gameplay mechanics make them really easy to shoot.

I haven't played any of the HS courses in any detail, so I can't comment on how their fake course design matches up. Although I could see where your opinion comes from with that as when I play TW, I stick with the named courses usually.
