Dimness
NCAA Football 08 details and cover guy to be announced March 2nd They must really be desperate for news. Was there ever really any doubt they were making this game? I think Gamespot may have worded this headline wrong, and it's just an announcment by EA of the cover athlete. Personally, I thought NCAA Football 07 for the 360 was one of the greatest disappointments in gaming I've had in the series history. What the 360 version won in graphics it lost in gameplay to the "then gen" versions in the PS2 and XBox. This may mark the first time I won't be getting this game on opening day, like I've religiously done for the past seven years.
kelley
Hopefully they remember to put tackling into this one.
BdoUK
I sure hope this years game is better as I'll be itching to play some college football come late July. Heck leading the Wildcats to a BCS Bowl should be easier this year considering the talent we will have on the field!
boogieman
Looks like the cover will be Boise State's Zabransky. Broncos' Zabransky picked for cover of popular college football video game
BdoUK
The demo for NCAA 08 is on Live now. I must say I'm very pleased with it after playing one game. Say what you want about framerates, but 60 FPS makes all the difference in the world. The game felt very choppy last year running at 30 FPS and is very smooth this year. The graphics also got a boost in the AA department as a lot of the jaggies around players have been eliminated. I'll wait for some reviews of the final product but I think EA may have finally done something right with one of their sports games!
foogledricks
I am interested in this game for the first time ever. Mostly because I am itching for a football videogame and All-Pro seems like a dud while this game is getting tons of good press. I only wish EA threw their hat in the ring of online persistence when it came to their sports games.
boogieman
The demo for NCAA 08 is on Live now. Damnit, why did I have to read this soo early in the morning.:td
exile
It's still choppy for me. I was getting quite a few framedrops while playing. The game did nothing otherwise for me. Really MEH.
Bruce B
It's still choppy for me. I was getting quite a few framedrops while playing. The game did nothing otherwise for me. Really MEH. Game looks great. Only choppiness I saw was between plays. During plays it was seamless. If I were a college football fan, I would be all over this like Dean on George Michael! There are still a few minor kinks, but I think by Madden 09 they'll have caught up to NFL2K5.
Bruce B
but I think by Madden 09 they'll have caught up to NFL2K5. Oh Christ, revisionist historian.
Big Daddy Bling Bling
Oh Christ, revisionist historian. Well, it only took them three next gen games to get the framerate in the same ballpark...I was being charitable by assuming they'd have the gameplay ready by next year. You were thinking it's going to take until Madden 10?

Romier S
If either of you have anything further to add to the current conversation then I would advise you to move it to PM gentlemen. This is bordering on personal and it isn't going to go anywhere pretty.
Paul
Hey, I liked it. I will be enjoying this game next week. Hope to see some of you there.
exile
Well, it only took them three next gen games to get the framerate in the same ballpark. Ea stated the 360 would be 60fps which is what we'd expect and the PS3 will be 30fps.
boogieman
Looks great. Love the smooth framerate. Thumbs up to the new running scheme, the multiple defensive options, expanded playbooks, smarter dbs, harder field goals, new animations. Thumbs down to seemingly slow runningbacks (yea, that USC back should easily break away when he's out in the open), not being able to lob a pass over a receiver (hopefully it's ok in the final version, and the new play calling screen (slows me down). BdoUK
I'm going to have to get this game on Tuesday. Unfortunately I'll be forced to buy a 360 memory card as well since I can't live without the real rosters . Kentucky should actually be good in football this year! Go Andre Woodson! boogieman
Rosters are the only reason I have a memory card. Hopefully, you can see the rosters when you play online this time.
BdoUK
Tom, Do you use the Fairdale King rosters? He usually has his online pretty soon after the game drops each year.
boogieman
Last year, I think I used the ones at Operation Sports.
dogbert
I thought Microsoft was cracking down on the makers of these rosters by effectively "banning" their boxes from XBL?
Gary P
Indeed, especially policing saves that show up on 360gamesaves.com, but these guys are tenacious:) They claim they'll have some up and ready to go on release. One thing Fairdale Kings noted is that you'll need to rename the file once it's loaded so you are sure to keep yourself in the clear. BdoUK
Wow I hadn't heard about that. I know this sounds shallow but a sure fire way to kill the NCAA series for me would be to eliminate editable rosters or roster downloads. That would be a tragic move indeed. Dimness
Brandon's going to have to be my guinea pig on this one. Seriously, I've been burned on two of the last three showings of this game. I hope we get a full version of the game this time around (see my previous rants).
