Romier S
Though it's a little known game released a few years back for the PC, Sacred was a whole lot of fun. It's very much your typical Diablo clone with oodles and oodles of weapons to procure and very similiar level progression. The game did distinguish itself by having a pseudo-3D engine and some really impressive visuals back when it was released. The sequel to Sacred was announced a few months back for the PC and not Ascaron has announced that a 360 version is also in development! Though not something generally exciting to many out there, I think it's a nice addition to the 360 library. I'm a sucker for a good Diablo style dungeon crawl and since there's a good chance we'll see online coop on Xbox Live, I'm definitely keeping an eye out for it. Here's a few PC screenshots and the announcement: Sacred 2 360 bound Edited May 11, 2009 by Romier S
secretvampire
Well, count me as excited about another good Diablo-style crawler. I never got around to the first one on PC, I'd love to give it a whirl on a console. Hopefully it won't retail for $60....it doesn't LOOK like a $60 title even if I will be the first to concede that graphics aren't that important for a game of this style if done right. EnemaEms
I take early graphics shots with a grain of salt. I;m sure this game is not coming in the next few weeks so they will probably add a few more layers to the graphics to make it look more gooder. I'm up for a good dungeon crawler. I am hoping Sony is going to be making a sequel to their Dungeon Crawler series from the PS2....the name escapes me. -Dean-

secretvampire
Yeah, I would be shocked if they didn't do another Champions game on the PS3 since they are so much better than the Untold Legends games they keep pumping out.
EnemaEms
That would be it. Thanks Romier. -Dean-
AnthonyVolpe
Not 100% sold on it. It looks decent enough, but it needs to bring something new to the table. Between the Champions games, Dark Alliance, and the X-Men games, the Crawl genre kinda got stale. Either that or I'm just bitter that I have no time to play any other game except Pac-Man on my iPod. :bh :td
Romier S
It looks decent enough, but it needs to bring something new to the table. Might as well skip it. Sacred does certain things a bit differently but it's in the same category as Titan Quest. It's a doesn't reinvent the wheel, but it sure can make that wheel look and move all nice and purdy. I hope they release the original game as well in a combo pack or something. Price them both together at $59.99 and that's quite the value. Tonner Cyn
GameTrailers has a few new videos up for Sacred 2. I remember being interested in this one when I first heard about it, but the videos have kind of diminished that. There seem to be a number of animation issues, perhaps the worst being enemies dying with no visible action by your character. I also noticed plenty of animation interruption and your character's facing changing unnaturally when attacked from multiple sides. With Too Human coming and looking good to me, I am thinking this one will be a pass.
Union Carbine
When is this supposed to hit?
Tonner Cyn
All I see on IGN is 2nd Quarter. So I guess somewhere around April-June, which is also when Too Human is supposed to come out (May 6?).
Tonner Cyn
More vids are up at GameTrailers and the game looks to have come a long way from those earlier ones. I'm actually planning on getting this one when it releases in Feb 09. Looks to be another game to help tide me over until Diablo 3 comes out. Romier S
So this comes out tommorrow on the consoles. Anyone else besides me picking it up? Whether or not I get any interest in this thread will determine whether I buy the PC version of the 360 title. I'd love to get some online coop loot whore action going with this but if no one is even remotely interested (even for the odd pick up match) - then I'm just going PC and being done with it. I have it ordered via amazon.ca. But I doubt I'll have it in time as they say it's not shipping out until may 15th. It's the 360 version cause some of my kji clan mates are getting it too. Tonner Cyn
Just posted a poll about this one actually. I've been interested in it for a while, but some of the comments I'm reading in reviews have me re-considering. If I do get it, it will be the 360 version. Romier S
Not much in the way of a need to go 360 here apparently. I'll decide tommorrow. To be frank I may still go 360 because the game will likely drop in price on the PC quickly so I could get it on Steam in a month or two for cheap during one of thier weekend sales. Too bad, was hoping we could get some four player loot whoring happening ala the old Champions of Norrath..
Romier S
Well, I picked it up on the 360 as expected. I've only just started really by creating my character and running around aimlessly for 40 minutes just getting used to things. The product quality is decidedly low rent (i.e. subpar voice acting, average cinematics and blah story even from the get-go) but once you get into playing the game it's got that wonderful loot-whore feel that will no doubt keep me coming back for more. In the span of 40 minutes I found the Bastard Sword of Hate and Cauldrons of Smiting. Each with a nice list of augmentations. This is why I love these games.:tu Thankfully the visuals are anything but low rent. The game looks lovely really. Very colorful with a huge expansive world to explore. There are no loading times at all as well as you can simply transition in and out of any environment on the fly. Now, I just need some of you bastards to pick it up and hop online:). Speaking of which, the game features drop in and drop out coop for up to 4 players along with a full "Free World" mode where you're not actually playing in the campaign. You're just exploring. Along with that is a nice "Free World PVP" option.:cool

Tonner Cyn
Any more impressions of the game Romier? Based on what you said earlier I am leaning towards getting this one.
Romier S
You like Diablo style games? You won't be disappointed here. The only thing I can tell you is to adjust expectations when it comes to story and presentation. The game is pretty much ass in both categories thus far. Thankfully the gameplay, character customization (which is extraordinarily deep) and visuals all make up for it in a big way (though truth be told I'm not a fan of the art direction in the game at all). The game is seriously MASSIVE though. I can only imagine the amount of play time one can garner out of it. You feel as though you're in a fairly sized chunk of the world to start with until you bring up the games map screen. At which point you realize your this little spec in this Morrowind/Oblivion sized world... Edited May 15, 2009 by Romier S
Tonner Cyn
Went to Best Buy during lunch to get a router and decided to see if they had S2 (online it said they did not). They guy checked his system and said they should have 12 copies. He looked everywhere and could not find them. So, I am currently not sacred... Whooter
Maybe he was seeing copies of the PC version.
Tonner Cyn
Actually, I had him check that as well and the PC version was out of stock, in store and online. I may stop at the Best Buy on my way home to give it one more shot, not that I am expecting to get to play it too much this weekend (fairly busy). EDIT: The second Best Buy said they had 4 copies but again, no one could locate them. I may try one more today but it sure seems like a conspiracy to keep this out of my hands!
