Angry the Clown
Proceed with caution, but? Official (UK) Nintendo Magazine's 'next month' tease: ... and some online folk at GAF joining the dots: The bottom of Nintendo's Magazine tease has the text: "World Exclusive! Step back in time as a classic game makes a long overdue return? http://gonintendo.com/?p=14685

Angry the Clown
If Joystiq's rumor of Saturn games coming to Wii is true perhaps Nights will just be coming to Virtual Console. The Magazine?s boast of a World Exclusive of a game making ?a long overdue return? would suggest, I think, a new title rather than a VC one. Not that I?d scoff at the Saturn game being made available of course?. The shaping of the stars would be a remarkable coincidence if it does not turn out to be something relating to Nights. That said, it is worth noting that NGamer is also boasting an exclusive next month, and their tease is also features a starfield. Same game Nintendo Magazine is going to reveal? A Different one? Take a look: This image has sparked speculation of anything from Star Fox to Pikmin to *squeals* an Earthbound sequel.

dogbert
Project Dream! I remember this game got tons of hype and didn't review well. Yet you all seem excited for it. Can't speak for anyone else but I absolutely adored Nights (and Christmas Nights) on the Saturn. Pretty much hated it when I first played a friend's copy, but once I learned how to actually play it, I fell in love big time. First & foremost, it's a high score game - it's all about building the biggest combo/chain of scoring events you can within the time limit. It's not a free roaming, free flying game or 3D platformer like videos (and some early previews that compared it to Mario64 & Crash Bandicoot) made it appear. It's thoroughly a high score game - at the beginning of each level, you have to collect 20 orbs & return them to your home base, at which point the real gameplay kicks in & you have the rest of your time to fly through the level & generate as many points as you can by comboing. If you're real good, on some levels you can theoretically do infinite combos a la Jet Set Radio. Of course, the time limit restricts that. On top of that, there's a wonderfully presented storyline that's cutsey, over the top & saccharine in all the right ways. It's a game I still enjoy playing today (of course, I no longer have a Saturn to play it on). I think I've got Christmas Nights sitting upstairs still. Sega have gone back to it once, it was a minigame in the Sega Eyetoy game (like Samba De Amigo...) on the PS2.
Angry the Clown
... once I learned how to actually play it, I fell in love big time. Precisely how I felt about it too. I would end up trying to play it at any given opportunity around the time of its release and it almost pushed me into getting a Saturn, but I just couldn?t afford one at the time having got a Playstation. Starhawk
A team member from the magazine posted about this on their forum: Hi. I’m very aware how much coverage our Next Month page is getting across the globe right now. I have to admit — I thought it was a cool little teaser when we did it — but I didn’t anticipate it blowing up quite so much! I’ve seen everything from Family Guy to Woody Woodpecker fitting perfectly in that star cluster! Very Happy Anyhoo, I’m here to iron a few things out. This is not an April Fool. I remember once I did an April Fool on CUBE with Gannondorf Photoshopped into Soul Calibur II and people got really upset when they found out it wasn’t true so we don’t do those kind of things anymore. I think they’re just a bit of a laugh but obviously other more sensitive people don’t. . . Also, we do have respect for our readers and we don’t set out to purposely mislead people. The whole point of the Next Month image is to be a teaser and to get people guessing. It’s just A BIT OF FUN. There are no lies in there. Innevitably the situation might change between the time of the mag going to print and the release of the next issue (it is a good six weeks after all). The game may end up being announced online before we hit the shelves. Ocassionally these things happen and it’s completely out of our control. However, the point is that we are not misleading you — there is a new game due to be announced. In summary then, please take a deep breath and count to ten when you’re thinking about this. There are quite a few images that perfectly fit into that star cluster. We’ve never mentioned any names — it could be anything. http://forum.officialnintendomagazine.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=62809&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=

Romier S
Well, it looks like the wait is over. Night 2 is most definitely coming folks.. I absolutely refuse to get excited about this until I know what development house is taking care of this new Nights game. If it's Sonic Team, you can consider me in a MASSIVE wait and see mode. I have no inclination to trust Sonic Team to do a proper Nights sequel after the absolute raping Sonic has gone through in the last few years. GunnerX
I hope it's true to the original adapted properly to the Wii. One thing that would definitely disappoint if it was made into Mini Games like Rayman including NiGHTS pinball. Now that would suck.

Angry the Clown
Stolen from GAF. Translation of the Iizuka q&a segment: Q: How did the idea of creating NiGHTS for Nintendo's new console come along?A: I've been interested in making this sequel for as long as I can remember, and the moment seemed perfect to start working on it. This game is ideal to take advantage of the Wii controller's potential. Q: Will we get, once again, inside the dreams (and nightmares) of Claire and Elliot, or are there new human characters whose dreams we'll be able to visit? A: Just like the first game's story, the new NiGHTS happens inside a dream world, and its story will follow the adventure of those children. I hope to announce further details in the coming months. Q: Will the main character (also called NiGHTS) be alone in this mission, or are there new kinds of Nightmare-people to control? A: I can already confirm that NiGHTS will be the main character, and that he will have new habilities which will be explained later. As for new characters, I can't reveal anything yet. You'll have to wait and see. Q: Which new flight manoeuvers will this charismatic figure be able to perform? A: NiGHTS will have a considerable number of acrobatic movements, many of them never seen before, for the player to perform easily using the Wii controller. You can count on loops, spins, and other manoeuvers which will be kept secret for now. Q: In which ways does Nintendo's new console attract you? A: I am particularly enthusiastic about witnessing all of this technological advance, and about knowing that, as a programmer, I can create games in the new consoles which, a few years ago, I was only able to dream of. Q: We're real fans of this character. Do you think that he will still be able to be interesting to the public, after all these years? A: Above everything, I hope that NiGHTS fans like this game as much as the First one. I'm confident that, with all the new features I'm hoping to include, it will also attract a new player base, not yet familiar with this character's world. Q: What can we expect, regarding game modes? A: Besides a single player mode, familiar to everyone, there will be a two-player mode and certain special online functions. Q: Do you intend to take the inspired NiGHTS experience to other platforms? A: So far, this new NiGHTS game is a Wii exclusive. Q: What other classic franchises, developed either by you or Sonic Team, would you like to bring back to life? A: When I created NiGHTS, I didn't see it as a classic franchise, but I always hoped I would be able to dedicate it a sequel when the right moment came. For know, this is the only game series I'd like to see people talking about once more.

JFo
I absolutely refuse to get excited about this until I know what development house is taking care of this new Nights game. If it's Sonic Team, you can consider me in a MASSIVE wait and see mode. Prepare to wait and see. Sonic team is definitely developing the title, which is probably reason for some in this thread to groan in agony I'm sure. Also, the official name is now NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams. I've gone ahead and edited the thread title to reflect this.

GreenMonkey
Sonic Team made Sonic and the Secret Rings, right? That got pretty good reviews. We'll probably be picking it up when it gets cheaper.
