MrJames
Samsung has updated their site with the 2007 sets, owners manuals, etc. http://www.samsung.com/Products/TV/index.asp
Cyberwoo
I am waiting for the A3000's from Sony but that 61" LED Sammy looks like a nice one as well. Decisions decisions....
Peter O
I've pretty much decided on getting a 50" Samsung 1080p DLP. My remaining conundrum is whether to get last year's bulb model for $1500 or splurge for the this year's LED for $2300. It looks like this year's lineup is 120 Hz, another plus in that column. I am in the same boat. I keep looking at the 50" for 1500.00. I am not sure what this years Bulb base, will get me that was not there last year. I am leaning towards the last year?s model at this time I look at the 50" Panny that is a very, very good price at CC, but too much glare for me and my room
kelley
That 61" LED set does look nice, I do wonder how well the LEDs are for people like me who see rainbows.

I have read that LED lights = no Rainbows. I do not see them, so I can not say for sure

Peter O
Download the PDF spec sheet for one of the new models, it is listed on the last page.

kelley
I can't really see much of a difference between the 87 and 89 models, besides Bluetooth.
Peter O
Kelley, I think the 89 also has HDMI 1.3.
kelley
Kelley, I think the 89 also has HDMI 1.3. Hrmmmm....I'm interested, I still have two weeks to return my JVC and I'm very curious to try the LED DLP, but I see the RBE on the bulb models very easily. GreenMonkey
The bulb vs LED thing shouldn't change rainbowing, I wouldn't think. It still has a color wheel, right? That means rainbows for those sensitive. I see an occasional rainbow on my 7-segment, 4x wheel Optoma. Not normally on movies but I see them on scenes with something bright white on black or vice versa. Gears of War, for example, I tend to see some rainbows when I get tired, especially on that tall rainy map with all the steps.
Peter O
According to the PDF spec sheet on the Samsung LED models, there is no color wheel.
kelley
There are three LEDs, Red, Green, and Blue. The LED's can flash MUCH MUCH faster then the wheel can spin so that is supposed to cut away the RBE. Are all the DLPs still "wobbulated" 1080p? Angry the Clown
If there are LEDs dedicated to each colour, then you shouldn't see them. The reason you do with a colour wheel on DLP is because its one device driving all the colours instead of RGB being split three ways as it is with the likes of SXRD and so on and high end 3-chip DLP. GreenMonkey
Ah, I see. Nifty! I think that should DRASTICALLY reduce rainbows if not eliminate them almost entirely.
kelley
I'm going tomorrow to hunt down one of these new LED units. My JVC has some geometry problems that I just can't live with.
MrJames
It's being reported by posters in the AVS owners thread that the 1080p LED set does support 1080p24 input. Samsung reps at CES previously stated it would not.
kelley
I've ordered a HL-T6187s, should be here Friday. I'm very sensitive to the DLP rainbows on traditional sets so I can't wait to see how the LED looks to me.
Derrik Draven
I have last years Samsung 61" DLP 1080p set and I too can see the damn rainbows! Not bad but, I can still see them.

I assume you didn't see rainbows when you first saw the tv? If so what changed between now and then? Did you not see them at the store but saw them when you got the set home and viewed it under proper lighting/calibration? Or was it something that you just started noticing over time? kelley
Well I've owned the HL-T6187s for a while now and I really love the picture it displays, but my current unit makes popping sounds while its on. I'm getting another one brought out to me on Friday.
