Starhawk
How many NBA fans do we have here on LCVG? Is anyone at least following the Playoffs? Last night's Chicago vs. Heat was pretty good. Nocioni's 3s at the end of the 1st quarter were insane. Im definitely more of a Chicago fan and it's great to see Shaq doing a bunch of nothing here lately. I also can't stand Posey, so if the Heat lose, I'm cool with that. I simply can't wait to see Phoenix vs. Dallas in the WC Finals (if both teams make it that far). I find it really interesting, given Dallas' phenomenal record this year that Golden State hasnt lost to them yet, AND their now playing each other in the first round. Can't wait to see what happens tonight. I think the one series I could care less about is anything with Detroit. For some reason I find they're extremely boring to watch. Anyone agree? PoisonJam
My interest in pro basketball is dictated primarily by whether or not any ex-UConn players are in the playoffs. Fortunately, with Ben Gordon (Bulls), Cliff Robinson, Marcus Williams and Josh Boone (Nets), Rip Hamilton (Pistons), Caron Butler (Washington, although he is injured), and Donyell Marshall (Cleveland), there's usually at least one ex-Husky to watch every night. Starhawk
I watch the NBA regardless, but I also look forward to seeing former Duke players in action. I've got Deng and Duhon in Chicago, Battier in Housten, Reddick in Orlando, and Boozer for Utah. Brand and Maggette for the Clippers almost made it. exile
I generally don't watch until the playoffs. From what little games I've seen, I think it's going to be the Suns or Dallas vs whichever chump the east puts up for fodder. The Suns to me look like the most complete team. GunnerX
I have been watching the Raptors vs Nets games and some of the beating LA took from Phoenix. But yes, the west is quite scary.

Anyone agree? I find most basketball games extremely boring to watch, but I'm a Piston's fan by default so I keep up on the scores and watch little bits here and there. Rainmaykr
Is it just me or are the refs quicker than ever to blow the whistle? Seems it's very rare we get uninterupted play - constantly stopping the action makes for a tiring viewing experience. Also, Nowitski. What's the German word for fraud? Starhawk
I think there was a rule change last year to allow more leniency on "touch-fouls" to avoid the stoppage of play. I'll have to look into it.

Rainmaykr
What he said. After all these years, there's still something terribly satisfying about beating the Jazz in the playoffs. Though they don't still have the Pasty Gangster, they do have Sloan. And I loves to drop a beatdown on me some Jerry Sloan.
Cyberwoo
Spurs fan here. Have been a Spurs fan dating back to the D-Rob days in the 90's. Disapointed in their effort in the first game against Denver but I honestly kind of expected Denver to get a game or two out of the Spurs. They create some tough matchups. The Spurs have quietly had another good season and its my hope people keep not talking about them and they go and win it all again. I've started watching my local team (Portland TrailBlazers) again after a long time away from them. From the mid 90's until last year they have made a habit of bringing in trouble makers. There is a reason people around the league were calling them the JailBlazers. Well Paul Allen finally got the hint that the fans were tired of that crap and they started cleaning house. They now have a nice young squad full of what appear to be quality character guys. I went to a couple of their games this year and was impressed with what I saw. Brandon Roy is the real deal. Great all around player. LaMarcus Aldridge is going to surprise alot of people. He had a great second half of this season until he got injured. If they can keep this core of young talent this will be an exciting team in the years to come. I predict playoff contender in another 2-3 years. I'd like to see a Spurs vs Chicago final. I like how Chicago plays. They get after it! Great gaurd play and a solid defense will keep them every game. Looking forward to seeing them knockoff Miami. I can't stand Riley and I agree that Posey is nothing but a thug. When things aren't going his way he just goes out and tries to injure people. King of All Cosmos
I love basketball, but don't really have a favorite team. I just love to see close, well-played, exciting games. Same applies to all sports for me. Any team besides The Heat winning the championship will make me happy.

Those two championship runs with series against the Jazz and Suns were just incredible to watch.

I used to get so infuriated watching the Stockton/Malone/Hornacek-era style of play of the Jazz. Bunch of floppers and whiners, I'm so glad they never won a championship. Starhawk
I keep missing the games, but I have got to catch some Golden State vs. Mavs action! The Warriors are now up 2-1! The arena was sold out and the crowd was insane. Very cool. If they happen to win the series, I think it will be the biggest upset in NBA Playoff history. The teams have played each other 6 times so far this year (including playoffs) and Dallas has only beat them once.
Starhawk
Golden State leads the series 3-1. Un-freekin-believable! I think this will be one of the biggest upsets in NBA Playoff history.
Cyberwoo
Golden State leads the series 3-1. Un-freekin-believable! I think this will be one of the biggest upsets in NBA Playoff history. That was a great game and this has been a really fun series to watch. I'm a big Avery Johnson fan (being the ex Spur and really nice guy that he is) but I also can't stand Mark Cuban and the whiney Dirk so I'm kind of enjoying watching the underdog Warriors put it to them. I've always enjoyed watching Baron Davis and think he hasn't really gotten his due because of injuries and being on less than stellar teams. Hey if the Warrios can pull this off it will just make the road to the championship easier for my Spurs. Although I was looking forward to a Spurs/Mavs matchup for some revenge for last year. How about the way Jason Kidd has been playing? The ol veteran is playing some of the best ball of his career. Oh and it was cool to see the Bulls sweep the Heat. King of All Cosmos
Wow, I expected Dallas to win the series, even though they were owned by GS in the regular season. A big upset, indeed. Mavs fans need to pump up their team when they play game 5 at home. Should be intense. Very pleased to see the Heat eliminated. I don't consider this an upset, Chicago was clearly the better team. Big baby Shaq can spend the summer playing cop now. Looks like the Suns or the Spurs should win it all, I don't see anyone who can pose much of a challenge to those two. Union Carbine
The Rockets need to get their mojo back. Utah has pushed their stuff in the last two games.
King of All Cosmos
Two great games last night. Dirk finally showed up to play. For someone so talented and who had such a dominating regular season, it's really pathetic that he's made so little effort in the post-season prior to now. He needs to keep it up if his team is to have any chance of advancing. Baron Davis is terrific. Scary how he can penetrate and reach the basket anytime he wants. Bruce B
I have no interest in basketball but thought they were kidding when there was an investigation in to referees calling more fouls on African American players than other players. What the hell is going on on this planet? Fucking ridiculous.
King of All Cosmos
Chill out, there was no investigation, a couple of academicians simply came to that conclusion after looking at some stats of fouls called over a dozen year span. There were many other factors that they don't seem to have considered, and it hardly seems like a comprehensive study. Following the sport for many years as a serious fan, I've never gotten the impression of any such prejudice. Bad calls are sometimes made, but on the whole, both white and black refs seem pretty even-handed when dealing with all players. It's just a sloppy study that doesn't merit the attention its gotten. It'll be forgotten within two weeks.
