Romier S
Before you get TOO excited it's worth mentioning this is not a straight out fighting game. It's more of an action/adventure. With that said, it sounds promising and it's definitely good to see the Wii getting even more third party love... http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3159324 We have little doubt Namco Bandai's working on a full-fledged fighting Soul Calibur sequel, but they're preparing a little diversion for the Nintendo fans in the audience: Soul Calibur Legends. Exclusive to the Wii platform, Soul Calibur Legends involves plenty of combat, but not in the traditional Soul Calibur sense -- this one's a third person action adventure. The announcement suggests Seigfried takes point in the storyline, but Namco Bandai promises players will play their favorites from the series -- and even introduce some new faces, too. We know little of the story, though, other than understanding the characters come together to complete "a quest for ultimate power in order to save an empire from destruction." "Over the past ten years, since the release of the original Soul Blade, the team behind the Soulcalibur series has pushed the envelope of technology and innovation with each iteration," said Makoto Iwai, exec. VP and COO of Namco Bandai America. "With Soulcalibur Legends, they saw the opportunity to once again create an immersive experience that is unique to the franchise." The control scheme's being kept under wraps, but is said to incorporate both the Wiimote and nunchuck simultaneously. There should be something more than simply swinging the Wiimote around, just don't expect the same depth as the fighting series. As more fighting experience is gathered, however, players can earn titles (i.e. Knight, Soldier) that unlock additional attacks. No word on when this one's arriving -- but enjoy some high-resolution artwork while we wait. Here's some artwork from the game:

JFo
D'oh! Brian, can you post that picture again? Personally, I'm more excited about a possible action/adventure game in the Soul Caliber universe than another fighting game. Hopefully it will be of high quality and not some cheaply thrown together hack 'n' slash.
dogbert
Personally, I'm more excited by Soul Calibur 4 than a possibly cheaply thrown together hack/slash adventure game. Namco, Capcom etc don't have the greatest track record with spinoffs from the likes of Tekken etc.

Hopefully it will be of high quality and not some cheaply thrown together hack 'n' slash. It's by the same team that handled Death by Degrees. I'm not exactly jumping up and down with that knowledge but here's hoping they do something good with it. EDIT: Fixed Brian's pic.
JFo
Okay, let me put it this way: I'm more interested in a good action/adventure game than another fighter. Aside from a few exceptions (most notably Super Smash Bros.) that's not a genre I necessarily get all worked up about. It's too bad that this is being developed by a company with a spotty track record. I'll keep my expectations in check then!
GreenMonkey
I'm not interested in fighting games at all anymore if there's no online. It's hard to find someone who knows how to play a fighting game decently any more. So an action/adventure game seems cool to me. Despite my massive addiction to Tekken Tag and Soul Calibur, I haven't played a game since TTT and SC2 respectively. Not like my wife is gonna play against me.
