Romier S
Yes, you read that right. Tecmo is currently working on a brand new Tecmo Bowl game and it's due out in early '08. Here's a small tidbit from Tecmo's "Nite Out": Seriously, Tecmo Bowl? People at the press conference cheer. Mr. Inaga, Vice President of Tecmo Inc, takes the stage. Inada takes the stage and jokes that the title of the game wasn't supposed to have been revealed until the end. "Just pretend like you don't know that it says Tecmo Bowl here" (pointing to the logo on the screen) "Instead of telling you about it, we're going to show you a video that is very memorable." The video begins. The video shows Tecmo employees (including Inada himself) playing SNES Tecmo Bowl. Jumps to a trailer for the full game. Set for release in 2008. But, no footage of the game itself ... just a logo. And no platform announcement, intentionally. "I can't tell you what platform we're making it for. But I can tell you that it's probably not going to be on the platform that you're expecting... if that makes any sense." This 2008 game will not be a port. It's a brand new game for one of the new systems. But which one?!? "That's one thing I can tell you for sure. This is going to be a brand new game for one of the new systems ... We're confident that the new Tecmo Bowl is going to be the talk of the town in 2008."

That sounds like a Wii game to me. Everyone expects sports games on the 360/PS3.

Unless he is saying the assumption is that this would be a Nintendo game given the SNES roots. Hmm, tough call...

Josh
Hmmmm...what if it's a new SNES version for release on the VC? :hmm Very interesting. Just update the rosters and get to it. However, he continued by saying "This is going to be a brand new game for one of the new systems."

Romier S
Obviously no NFL rosters. Which I could frankly care less about if the game is half as fun to play as the previous games in the series.
foogledricks
Is this one of those games that won't hold up though. Was it fun because you were 10 at the time and it was better than "football" on the atari? Tecmo Super Bowl and Baseball Stars were the last sports games that I really enjoyed. They are in my top 10 games of all time. So I want to relive that. I just fear that they won't hold up. Though damn, an online enabled baseball stars or Tecmo Super Bowl would be the bomb. At least, I think it would be. Maybe not?

Was it fun because you were 10 at the time and it was better than "football" on the atari? I disagree, this is not one of the nostalgia cases. I still play multiple seasons of the NES Super Tecmo Bowl every year and it's a favorite when friends are over. It's just so easy to pick up and play and STILL have an in-depth game of football. I say this not having bought another football game with the exception of NFL 2K5 on Xbox. Those two games scratch my sports itch. And I STILL have never been able to get into a baseball game since Baseball Stars on NES (and Baseball Stars 2 on Neo Geo), I tried the baseball demo on the PS3 and was bored silly. Sports games always bore me. Last one I really played a lot was Play Action Football on the NES. We found it in the snow with the casing cracked and a hole in it. Worked though. Still have it. I played some Madden 97 on the Playstation with my sports-obsessed college roomies. I'll check this out. I enjoy a good hockey/football/etc game once in a while multiplayer even though I'm not a sports fan. But most of these cater to people who can read crazy looking plays and know people's names and stuff. I don't know any sports names who isn't a member of the Red Wings
