I think Knack will be a very solid title. It seems like people's expectations are different then what this game is intended for, which to me seems very much like the Lego games. A solid game that can be enjoyed with your kids. Maybe I'm wrong, but that is my impression anyway.

More great stuff in the interview, though I have only read bits and pieces so far. Listening or reading Cerny talk about anything these days is just great. It is simply incredible the amount of information he and Sony have given in regards to the PS4 when you contrast that with MS and the Xbone. Unless I have missed something, I have yet to see anything more than their millions of transistors and power of the cloud talk.

They just give a sense that they had a plan and have been preparing for this for awhile. So far, they seem to have looked hard at everything thing they did wrong with the last two launches and corrected all of it.

I will say I feel the same way. I did not like Splinter Cell until Conviction. You have gone farther in a Metal Gear game then I probably have in all of them combined, and I still own them all. And I am only 3 and half hours in, 28% complete, but...I absolutely love this game so far. I have had no issues with the stealth aspect. Am I very good at it. No. But I have yet to get thru a part where I was frustrated by it. It just feels like there is a nice balance to the stealth where you can sneak around without having to plot out every inch you move. And this while firing just 8 shots, until the part at the Capital building, anyway. So take that for what its worth.

    I preordered a PS4 tonight.

I don't have a problem with most of what MS is implementing. I understand the policies and the features look really cool. But I am a gamer. That is what I have been for 33 years. And I feel like Sony made a console for me. Plain and simple. I don't want to own my living room. I game in my bedroom. I have no interest in motion controls. I don't have cable Tv. So that leaves a console that from all reports is underpowered and cost $100 more because of those features I don't need. I can see where a lot of people will enjoy it. But it was a very easy decision for me. Greatness awaits.

I still say $399. In mindshare there is less of difference from $449-499. Consumers look at it more favorably when you come in under $400 even though it is only a $50 difference. Though 2 models wouldn't surprise me either.

The big difference right now is the way the message has been delivered. I will end up getting both, who am I kidding, but I listen to Mattrick and Harrison and I feel like they are trying to sell me a used car. Contrast that with Cerny, and here is a guy who comes across as honest and passionate about what he does and what he helped create. Right now, it is pretty much a no-brainer for me. Unless MS really has something outstanding up their sleeve, I will be getting a PS4 this year.

Why not offer both? I know it is not as simple as it sounds. But why not keep it the way it was for physical media in regards to pricing and being able to buy and sell the game you payed for while pushing digital downloads with all its DRM crap by passing the savings onto those customers that choose that. I would think you could get quite a few people to buy digital if they could save $10-20 simply for downloading it.

Seems like MS could have saved themselves a bundle of headache by just answering "we'll have the exact details later, today is all about seeing the new hardware."

Online only authentication? Maybe they know something we don't. Of course they may have realized there is a lot more money in microtransactions then they were ever going to make off that stupid program.

Anyway, at face value, it is great. It was ridiculous and infuriating that my son and I could not play our brand new copy of Madden online on our Xboxes in the same house.

Now hopefully these other companies will follow EA's lead.

The negative vibe around these parts toward the Xbox is all the more interesting to me because this place had so much love for it in the early years.  It was almost impossible to get anyone to talk at all about Nintendo or Sony's console at the time.

Forgot about From Ashes. I generally don't have a problem with DLC but it was crap that it was not included in the game since it adds quite a lot to the story. This was one time when I felt like a part of the game was held back specifically to charge more money.

I haven't given it a lot of thought. I suppose my thinking is after all the money MS spent fixing the problem, they would not be stupid enough to repeat. Not worried.

I just posted this in the ipad thread, but I think the real steal right now may be the ipad 3's while they last. Apple's selling them at 379 now.

I'm considering a 16 or 32 myself. Then the ipad1 can be my sons' toy so we don't have to fight as much

    Dear Kindle Customer,

We have good news. You are entitled to a credit for some of your past e-book purchases as a result of legal settlements between several major e-book publishers and the Attorneys General of most U.S. states and territories, including yours. You do not need to do anything to receive this credit. We will contact you when the credit is applied to your Amazon.com account if the Court approves the settlements in February 2013.

Hachette, Harper Collins, and Simon & Schuster have settled an antitrust lawsuit about e-book prices. Under the proposed settlements, the publishers will provide funds for a credit that will be applied directly to your Amazon.com account. If the Court approves the settlements, the account credit will appear automatically and can be used to purchase Kindle books or print books. While we will not know the amount of your credit until the Court approves the settlements, the Attorneys General estimate that it will range from $0.30 to $1.32 for every eligible Kindle book that you purchased between April 2010 and May 2012. Alternatively, you may request a check in the amount of your credit by following the instructions included in the formal notice of the settlements, set forth below. You can learn more about the settlements here:
    www.amazon.com/help/agencyebooksettlements

In addition to the account credit, the settlements impose limitations on the publishers’ ability to set e-book prices. We think these settlements are a big win for customers and look forward to lowering prices on more Kindle books in the future.

Thank you for being a Kindle customer.

I just love the comment "if all those things are included" - ok. What "things"? It's all digital download shit. The map pack may be enticing to those who will play the MP but the only content remotely of interest to me is the Forward Unto Dawn disc.

The price on this thing is $99.99 to boot. Having just paid $90 for the Diablo III CE which takes a heavy shit all over that package (hardcover art book, full CD Soundtrack, Behind the Scenes disc on DVD and BD) - regular edition here I come. It's ashame too cause the packaging for it is beautiful.

I'd rate DMO as in serious trouble of getting chopped or scaled back. It's a relatively hardcore MMO from a non-MMO studio with a licence that's lacking glamour/mainstream appeal; it's been in development a /long/ time with not much to show for it publicly & has a publicly announced schedule putting it in 2013. That's a long time away.

I reckon this is the third time THQ have said this in the past 18 months. Didn't work the previous times. Management at the studio level is seriously screwed up.
