I just picked up a new Dell XPS system - for 2 reasons, the media-center OS and the free 20" widescreen monitor.
That leaves me with a system sitting around. This would make a good rig for someone who needs a decent system at a good price without having to break the bank. Here are the specs:
ASUS P4P800 SE Mobo (Retails @ $100)
P4/2.8 GHz 800 MHz FSB / Socket 478 (Retails @ $191)
Kingston 1GB DDR RAM 400 Mhz (2x512) Dual-Channel (Retails @ $90)
ATI Radeon All-in-wonder 9800 Pro Video Card (Retails @ $160)
Sony DVD-RW Drive
Primary 16GB Hard Drive - Fujitsu MPD3173AT
Secondary 100GB Western Digital Hard Drive WD1000BB 7200RPM (Retails @ $60)
10/100 Ethernet card
ASPIRE X-Infinity Black Steel ATX Mid Tower ATX w/420W power supply (Retails @ $60)
I reformatted both drives and installed a fresh copy of XP Pro.
The tower that all this sits in is pretty cool. LCD Temp guage on the front, 2 case fans, one on the top(exhaust) and one on the side(intake). The fans and the front of the tower are lit in cool blue lights, and the side of the case is see-through. See pics at the link above.
The mobo, cpu, RAM, video card, secondary HD and case add up to $660 at current selling prices. I didn't go with list prices, the prices you see above are pretty much the best prices I was able to find online. I didn't bother putting the prices for the primary hard drive, dvd drive and ethernet card. We all know the approx. value of those, and it's minor.
After thinking about it for awhile, I think that $450 is a fair price for the system, and I will pay shipping via UPS ground.
If anyone feels my price is way out of line, feel free to PM me an offer.
