  1. The LA Galaxy won the MLS Cup a couple weeks back but I was waiting for something before sharing some stories (that, and my work blocked LCVG so I don't get on nearly as much as I used to). I took my girls and a friend to practice the Saturday before our home game in the Western Conference final against Seattle. The team moved their practice from the usual field to inside the stadium so we didn't get to catch them going to practice. We did hang around though and caught pretty much everyone (except Landon Donovan) as they were going home. My daughter got a pair of cleats signed and we got pictures with most of the players. My oldest daughter and I went back the day before the MLS Cup. They again moved the practice inside the stadium but we got there early enough to catch most of the players as they arrived. It seemed like a lot of them were still waking up so we didn't push too much but I did get Gyasi Zardes to record a greeting for my youngest daughter Emma; he gave her his jersey earlier in the season. Trinity (the daughter with me) got Todd Dunivant to record a greeting for her friend (and his biggest fan) who was out of state at a speech tournament. It was quite cool. So earlier in the season I tweeted Dan Gargan (one of our defenders) and said we should get lunch. I went to a practice on the day they were leaving for Salt Lake and mentioned it to him when I saw him. He said they were getting ready to travel so a mid-week date would be better. I mentioned it again to him over Twitter but didn't hear anything. The night after the Galaxy won the championship the team had a rally in Hermosa Beach. I couldn't make it up but lo and behold, I get a message from Dan saying we should do lunch before the holidays. Fast forward to today and it happened! I got to spend an hour having lunch and talking about all sorts of things (mostly family and soccer) with an integral piece of our championship team! He even paid even though I had mentioned from the get go that I wanted to pick it up. There's even a possibility that we'll do it again with the rest of my family. Way cool!
  2. Passed on Forza (either one) for now. I was able to get Mordor and my dad ordered me Diablo and FIFA. My sister has something coming to me as well, probably Rocksmith. On top of the AC games that come with it, I think I am set for now. Now, I know 360 games are not compatible. Did that hold true for Arcade games as well?
  3. After a couple of false starts i did finally get an Xbox one, the assassin's creed bundle. Hoping my family gets me fifa and Diablo, maybe shadow of mordor. If i was to go after a racing game, is forza horizon the better choice or is forza 5 on sale worth it?
  4. More from the Q&A after the reveals: - Dr Strange casting - if it was confirmed it would have been announced - Panther will be in costume in Civil War - Writer & Director announcements for Capt Marvel will come before casting news - Civil War of the cinematic universe - No plans at the moment for Hulk solo; will be in other movies (aside - could just be Avengers movies) - No confirmation on writer/director of Civil War or availability of Spider-Man - Civil War is beginning of Phase 3 (aside - what about Ant Man?) - They were misdirecting fans by putting rumors of Cap 3 title being Serpent Society - No TV news as that is headed by Jeph Loeb, not Kevin Feige - Question re: Inhumans: "You may find out sooner than you were expecting." - Black Widow's role, like Hulk's, will be in Avengers films; there are plan is which she plays a key, key role - Events in cinematic universe will have all nations wanting regulation; not so much about secret id but about who reports to who - Defenders & the Netflix stuff are in the same universe "however far on the outskirts"

  6. $349 puts me $50 closer to getting one. I have $30 in Best Buy credit saved up and should be able to get about $100 on my PS3 (hmm, I think I swapped the hard drive so BB might not take it from me actually...). It's possible...
  7. Dean may have been referring to the guy who had the Terminus people in the box car. I have read that someone from the show (maybe on Talking Dead?) has said that was not Negan.
  8. Anyone else pick up that Bob may have been bitten when he went under water? When he left the church to go cry it may have been because he knew his time was limited and he just seemed to find love/happiness/acceptance. I won't be surprised if he gets to tell the hunters a little surprise next week...
  9. But then backed off that statement. So, at this point, it is still up in the air. I won't be surprised if it happens (though I am less certain Mel will direct) but it is basically 50-50 for me.
  10. I haven't yet but positive reviews and the bit I have seen are tempting me. $20 on Steam. I have heard it is a bit short (3 hours?) but I'm not sure if that is an accurate description of the length.
  11. It did not happen. Still, I wonder if I should go ahead and trade in my PS3 before it goes down more in value. I could move the blu-ray player from the back tv to the main one so we could still watch movies. With Christmas and my birthday in February, I bet I could get it around then. As much as Destiny intrigues me, I think if I was to go with a game that is out now it would be Diablo 3. I'd also have to consider getting FIFA 15. I would not be able to trade in Madden if I got a bundle, right? I believe that is a download version, not a disc version.
  12. Aston Villa for the win!!! I even picked them in the predictor league, though I got the final score wrong. I did get the Arsenal vs Man City score exactly right.
  13. I highly doubt my wife will let me do this, but if there was ever a time to get an Xbox One now would seem to be the time. The Best Buy near me appears to have the Madden bundle in stock and then I could get a free game (Destiny or Diablo???). I would be willing to trade in my PS3 for $120 as it is solely used for blu-ray viewing which the Bone would take over. A new console and two games for $280, and I could even try trading in some 360 games to knock that down even more... Argh, even bringing it up could get me in trouble (we're spending over $300 on a brake job, though at one point we thought that was going to be over $800).
  14. Hope you don't mind, but I have another LA Galaxy story to share with you. The team played on Friday. The atmosphere was...odd, but ultimately great. One of their stars, Gyasi Zardes, had a birthday so I made a birthday poster for him earlier in the week. Then the tragedy happened. Luca de la Garza, the 1 week old son of our defender AJ de la Garza, passed away due to complications after a surgery for a heart condition he was born with. At the game you could just feel something was different. Before the start of the match, the stadium observed a moment of silence and during the match we had a celebration/show of support for the family. It was pretty cool and even some of the players said afterward that they got emotional during it. The Galaxy won 6-0, helped by the other team's keeper getting a red card after 34 seconds. While the game was full of memorable moments, it was also a great day for my daughter Emma: - One of the teachers at her summer school was the wife of the team doctor. She saw us in our Galaxy gear and came over to talk to us. She enjoyed Emma so much (who wasn't even her student) that she said she would try to get a jersey from one of her favorite players, Marcelo Sarvas. It didn't happen during summer school and we just kind of forgot about it. When I got home on Friday to get ready for the game, my other daughter asked when I had gotten the new jersey. I didn't know what she was talking about. Sure enough, the lady came through. She got Emma a Marcelo jersey and he even wrote a little message to her on it. He's been a favorite for a while and this just cemented that. - At the game, I was walking Emma around the stadium to get her out of the sun. We ran into the tv announcer, Joe Tutino. He talked with me for a few minutes and took a picture with Emma. - Emma has been to a number of games now and the team mascot, Cozmo, knows her on site. He came over before the start of the game and gave her the scarf he was wearing. I've raised the possibility of him making it to her birthday party in October. We'll see if it happens. - I mentioned it was Gyasi Zardes' birthday and the card and all. Since we won the game, the team came over to our area to salute the fans. Gyasi doesn't normally do this but he was there this time. Sure enough, after they finished the salute, Gyasi came right over to us and traded his jersey for the birthday card. Emma made the exchange. It even got on the post-game show.
  15. Did I miss this for this year? I don't think there was a last minute movie moved from summer to next year so I could actually have had all of my movies count for once!
  16. Managed to get the Villa game completely right and had my bank chip on it. Boom! 90 points right there! We'll see how far I fall after the next games... I'll take being in 1st place for now though . And how about Aston Villa? 3rd place and they have Christian Benteke coming back sooner or later.
  17. So, I missed if there was any discussion about Landon Donovan's pending retirement at the end of the MLS season. As a Galaxy fan, I'm definitely interested in what the team does when he is gone. There is little doubt in my mind that they will sign a third designated player (a purely MLS concept I believe). Prior to the announcement there had been rumors of a returning American player, perhaps Jermaine Jones or Sacha Kljestan. While either of those would have been interesting additions, I don't feel they are worthy targets for next season. I know MLS is not going to attract a promising EPL/La Liga/Bundesliga mid-20s wunderkind, but is there any hope we might be able to get a late-20s early-30s player with good talent? EDIT: I signed up for the predictor league. How do I join the LCVG mini-league? My name there is the same as here, Tonner Cyn.
  18. Both phones are indeed AT&T. I finally got the time to work on it earlier tonight. I backed up the stuff I wanted to keep from my S2 and started to set up the S4. They changed the design of the sim card on me . I can try to get AT&T to give me a new card but I bet they will try to charge me something for it...
  19. So I've been using a Samsung Galaxy S2 for a while now. Almost from the beginning it has had the problem of just shutting off for no apparent reason; I have to hold the power button down or take out the battery to get it back started. Recently, this problem has gotten worse, requiring multiple restarts each day. Anyway, a friend took some pity on me and gave me an S4 he was no longer using. Can I just put my sim card and mini-SD into the S4 to get it to work? I am using AT&T - will they charge me activation?
  20. Anybody binge watch the final season? Might be a little early still . My wife and I will be checking this out but I'm not quite sure when - our dvr is close to full and she is getting back into teacher mode.
  21. OK, this is more like the Belgium I expected to see.
  22. Haven't been too impressed with the start of Belgium vs. Algeria. I was expecting Belgium to be the stronger side but it feels like Algeria has had most of the possession. Not that they have done much with it. EDIT: Hmm, I still like Belgium but they need to wake up. Giving up that PK did not help.
  23. Landon Donovan did not make the 23 man USMNT roster. As a Galaxy fan, I see the silver lining in this but I really think he deserved to be there over at least a couple of the other players. In any case, I am rooting for the team to do well.
  24. @Gammer, Suarez and Yaya Toure are the first that come to mind. Rooney, Gerrard, and Hazard.
  25. Finally watched last week's episode. I knew Hannibal had a plan but I didn't put two & two together to realize he was going to flip everything onto Chilton. Now, it seems to me that Hannibal would have to curtail his murderous activities or else just open the door for suspicion to fall back on him again. Maybe Will realizes this and is going to try to push Hannibal as they resume his therapy. Do you think Alanna will survive to realize just how wrong she is about Hannibal?
