  1. Didn't Microsoft not support k/m for the Xbox to further distance the console from the PC? An early industry/fanboy criticism was that the Xbox would be a "port machine" of PC titles or was simply a repackaged, crappy PC.
  2. Mock my tv all you want, it's my panties that were insulted. If the secret content really is the Blood Gulch map, I wonder if players who hadn't unlocked it can join those games?
  3. Yeah, that's obviously exactly what I meant. Thanks for the respectful disagreement.
  4. How about we not blow an as of yet unrevealed unlockable out of proportion since we have almost ZERO information as to what is going to be unlocked (for all anyone knows it can be a badge of the Master Chiefs ass). As far as your Model-T analogy, don't they already do that? Isn't that what you are bitching about? I think most of the racing games available on the market these days start you out with the bare minimum and force you to unlock the goods via a single player mode as it is. I'd say your somewhat sarcastic scenario is already a reality so there is little sense in getting your 13in TV having panties in a ruffle about it. You brought up driving games as an analogy, and used that tired "you couldn't handle the fastest car if you had it from the start" reasoning. If learning the oh-so-subtle nuances of videogame racing is so important, I asked why they didn't start you with the real basics, a little 7 mph rambler in any color you like, so long as it's black. Somewhat sarcastic? Maybe. Hardly personal. WHAT THE FUCK do you call "getting your 13in TV having panties in a ruffle about it"? I would hope that the owner of a forum might have a little more decorum than to insult one of his members because of a thin-skinned belief he's been slighted. Adding a winkie doesn't ameliorate it, either.
  5. Nuances? Please. How about every driving game should force you to start with a Model-T? Would I spin out around every corner the first few races I drove the Enzo? Probably, but I think in about an hour or so I would have the hang of it, as opposed to the twenty it would take to unlock it. Let me, the consumer, decide if I'm "uber" enough to drive your fancy rides. I think we might have the beginnings of some real fractious Halo 2 games, what with keyboard & mouse fears, preferred hosts, clans, possible unlockable weapons or armor, etc. <!--QuoteBegin-FutureVoid@Oct 23 2004, 06:02 PM Ghost Recon is an entirely different story though as I do somewhat agree with you that it unbalances the online gameplay a tad too much for the games own good. How is that an entirely different story? Me having some super-gun as opposed to you driving a faster car?
  6. This is another chance (a la Carve) for LCVG to dominate an online game. I'm 39th in the world, for goodness' sake! Tip: you can press the X button once per hole (though not on the green) to see a "ghost ball" representation of exactly where your ball will land (representing wind, spin and bounce) should you hit it perfectly.
  7. It is Live-aware. Also, there is a grid for the green (white button), but it's even harder to read than the green itself.
  8. A few of us tried to play Burnout 3 the other night, but we were never able to log in. Effing EA. If it works, I'd love to play it again. If we get a big group, SW:B is always fun, and I'm definitely going to play a few foursomes of Outlaw Golf.
  9. From some of the posts at CAG, it sounds like TRU will be treating game returns from the original receipt as being worth $33. However, I imagine you can easily circumvent this by asking for gift receipts for all three games.
  10. Allen, can we credit you with the first use of the phrase "boobie physics"? Did you actually come up with that before Joel? Thanks for the impressions, I'm still trying to decide if I need yet another golf game, I still haven't unlocked a whole lot in HSG4. Ed, although I do think about boobies quite a bit, I can't take credit for the phrase. I would probably date it to the DOA series. I recommend getting the game. If you stick with just HSG4, your only choice of online opponent would be Bryan. $20 is more than reasonable to avoid that fate.
  11. I played 9 offline holes and 18 online against Beer Monkey tonight. We had a little trouble adjusting to the controls and also an 11-stroke hole apiece to attend to wayward dogs and children, so we weren't breaking any course records. Still, we had fun. The touchy swing controls of the original have been fixed (I only sliced once), and you can now swing with either thumbstick. There's a very accurate target reticle which lets you know exactly where the ball will land, though it doesn't account for bounce. The game gives you three "line readings" per putting stroke, which sounds like too many until you run out. The greens are pretty difficult to read, but the "lines" are very accurate (unlike in Links, they don't peter out, they'll show if your swing will send the ball off the green). The swing meter might even be too exact. I did not always trust that swinging to the indicator was prudent, but it really is gauged precisely for your target placement. You can't watch the other player's avatars when you've finished a hole, but you can watch their ball move. We played stroke play, which was fun enough, but I can't wait to play with only one club or the mode where winning the hole lets you take clubs from your opponent's bag. Eight courses (including minature golf), four-players and thirteen game modes will keep this one on my playlist for some time. If nothing else, the excellent boobie physics are worth the $20 price tag.
  12. Gee, it's awfully quiet in here.
  13. I think Toys R Us might be about to pull a fast one for this sale. The online price for Zelda:WW is now $50, Wario World is $30, Kirby Air Ride is $50. These games are all priced $20 MSRP at every other retailer. I wonder if this is in response to the dealrush.com codes, or if they are also raising the price b&m.
